Feel like Hammon needs a better situation than this. We'll be tanking. The last thing the first female coach needs is to walk into a situation where the losses pile up and have every mysoginist tool, already looking for an excuse to criticize her, get to point and laugh at her record.

I wouldn’t be surprised if most moves from this point forward are done for financial reasons. It wouldn’t surprise me if Sam were willing to take back a bad contract like Wiggins for assets but it also wouldn’t surprise me if he was content to move cp3 for not much more than savings. I think things will happen slowly until next years cap is released.

If he figures out a way to offload that deal without giving up other assets or taking more long term money, he's a wizard.

My best guess is they either promote from within or get a cheap first-year HC candidate. Hard to say, but not a lot of big name head coaches will probably come for a rebuild. And I'd bet the contract isn't long.

No team that thinks they're a head coach away from contention is going to hire the first woman in nba history. There's too much perceived risk.
Is Ollie still too disgraced? We know presti loves ties to the org.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

I think picks definitely get used this offseason to offload monies.

I think Sam Presti should just hire himself as head coach. No better way to save money than to just do the job himself.
"I don't know of any player that, when the shot goes up, he doesn't want it to go in," Donovan said

The reverse svg

I no longer think Hammon has much chance of being selected by Thunder.
I doubt Presti would pick himself because of travel, critique and time demands. If he ever did, it might be when set to contend again, not before.
Will he hire a black coach? It will probably happen some time. This might be the time.

Sixers and Bucks both being reported to have interest in CP3. A lot of people think we are going to be desperate to off load his contract but the teams trying to win now are more desperate. Maybe I'm wrong but I think we have the upper hand in this situation.

**** it. Give Mo Cheeks the keys. He's been our head assistant for like 10 years aside from his short stint as the Pistons head coach. Which was destined to fail from the get go.

If we trade him to sixers we have the upper hand but we need to take one of the bad contract and try to make them give us picks and at least one of milto or thybulle

It’s just a matter of if Sam would rather have bad salary with more assets or fewer assets with less returning salary.

I do not favor Cheeks as Head Coach.

I wish I really knew enough about any one candidate to argue it. It’s not like as fans we can scout coaches or watch highlight videos on YouTube. I thought Atkinson's teams always played above their talent. However that might not be what Presti wants for the next two years.

I'm always against retreads. Cheeks is a known quantity, and not an attractive one. It would be the equivalent of hiring pj carlesimo to guide a young team.

Replace "Sam" w/ "ownership" and you nailed it.

Interesting. Sam may have wanted to keep billy, but not that much.

This is likely ownership/Presti wanting to remain flexible during rocky fiscal years for the foreseeable future, IMO.
