After a strong rookie campaign, what are peoples expectations in PJ's 2nd season?
What role could/should he play?
What stats would you expect?

Steady improvement, just be a more reliable starting level player. Would like to see him get more consistent across the board. He also needs to get stronger.

I'd love to see improvement to defensive rebounding. He really needs to be at least average at that position to become an effective starter.

Re: 3J Swishington: The PJ Washington Jr. Thread
I expect PJ to be healthy and to take a bit more of an offensive role. I expect that points, shot attempts and such will increase a bit.
I want to see PJ create a bit more, so I'm hopeful this will be reflected in improved assist numbers.
Increased strength should show up in rebounds and FTA from drawing contact.

My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

16/8. Good efficiency. Going to be a solid starter in the league for years.

Re: 3J Swishington: The PJ Washington Jr. Thread
He is probably not going to add a go to his offensive game in terms of isolation or passing. Offensively his two biggest areas of improvement are consistency and aggressiveness. He has the skills to be a really good player, just needs to shoot more.
His biggest opportunity in my eyes are on defense. If he can develop into a Jerami grant type defender then he is really really valuable.

Aggressiveness and handle. And D.
Show him Wolves-era, Early Celtics-era KG tapes.
He can be aggressive in going after what he wants off the court. Tell him to have that fire on.

Re: 3J Swishington: The PJ Washington Jr. Thread
RB: Rex Chapman (like Washington, a Kentucky star drafted by the Hornets) said the most important time for an NBA player’s development is the summer after his rookie season: That you need that first season to understand the holes in your game. Is there anything in particularly that you’re focused on, based on last season?
PJW: “My main focus is on play-making — handling the ball. That’s the biggest thing — making shots off the dribble and making plays (for teammates) off the dribble as well. I feel like if I add that, my game will be a lot better than it was last year.”
(Washington averaged an assist for every 14 minutes played and had a 1.3-to-1 assist-to-turnover average.)

I think its always the summer in between years 2 and 3 where we see players make huge strides. Just glad his foot hasn't flared up. That was a big red flag for him coming out of college.

Re: 3J Swishington: The PJ Washington Jr. Thread
Neither PJ nor Miles excelled at play-making. Combine that with Rozier pounding the ball and you get a team with slow pace.
I don't envision PJ (or Miles) ever becoming a playmaker so I think eventually something has to give. It's too early to say who sticks. Bridges is more suited for PF but so is PJ.
With the team's emphasis on playmaking, I'm getting the sense Kupchak's crew leans Avdija. Like PJ (and Miles), Avdija does many things well but he's more of a playmaker than both and it helps he can back up both SF and PF.
