Marc Gasol Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by Scott Hall » Sat Sep 12, 2020 4:26 am

Thanks for the memories Marc but as they say Father Time is undefeated and it's time to take you
to the back of the barn, put you out to pasture and send you out to the glue factory.

Do we even take him back for the MLE at this point? I say put him out of his misery hopefully some
other team gives him one last decent contract like the Knicks or Kings.

ya hes gone. ciao. i think if Gasol comes to Masai for a MLE deal, I can see him coming off the bench for good now. just to be a locker room presence and maybe move up into the front office one day.

Thanks for shutting down Joel Embiid/Giannis and getting us that championship. So long big fella, you can play in Spain now.

It wasn't your fault Nurse played you for way too long over Ibaka, but at least you could have chipped in at least 10 points a game.

P,ayoffs are about matchups. He fit in well last playoffs. Not this year with Boston. Would be similar vs Miami even if we had won.

I'll always be a Gasol fan! His play during our championship run was huge and his performance in the parade was unforgettable.

Theis is also 7 years younger. If he was less of a factor than Gasol at 28 year old, I'd be worried for his career.

Marc sucked hard this year but I would always remember and appreciate his contribution to our championship run last year.

As long as Embiid and Vucevic are in the East, there is room for Marc on our team. Like Pascal, he is probably another fella that followed government instructions by staying away from gyms: One just can't miss layups like that, that is the only explanation.

Marc is a staple and a hall of famer.

I wonder if we get JV back?

Tough series against a difficult team for him but Gasol remains a very good defensive player even as the age regression sets in. You take him back in a second if he’s willing to stay for the MLE but I doubt he would be. His defense will be valued in this league still.

It's only a matter of time before he starts rapidly declining on that end of the floor. You might take a 1 year
flier on him for low level money but I'm sure with his pride he will want more then a 1 year deal and for more
money.

It's a tough decision it's like having an old dog you love that gave you good memories but the situation
is only gonna get worse and you have to make the call to do what's right.
