I like FVV and wouldn't mind Cole Anthony later in the draft. The caveat is you don't want to pay these players like franchise cornerstones. FVV definitely isn't. I don't want to assume Anthony won't be but in all likelihood he won't be either.

I think the idea of signing FVV is, we want to make the team kinda decent next year, get to .500, and look respectable, maybe get swept in the first round, then sign a max FA because we're no longer a complete clown show

Maybe two, depending on how the cap reacts to the Covid thing. If it goes down, we'd have enough for a max plus at least a solid role player, if it doesn't drop too much, we might have enough for two maxes (definitely if we're able to dump Randle, as he has 4 mil guaranteed in 22).

It wouldn't be the worst plan I've ever heard. Because at that point, FVV is the 3rd or 4th option on offense (up to 2 max FAs and if RJ pans out, drops him to 4), and that's a good role for him. Technically he would be overpaid, but he'd be going into the last years of his deal, so you could trade him if you really needed to.

Its hard to be a 0.5 team. I think the majority of the teams will get stronger. Suns, Portland, Pelicans and Memphis are on the rise. Awful teams like GSW, Wolves, Nets, Wizards, and Hawks will be way better next year. All the playoffs teams will keep their core and remain strong (except OKC and maybe Magic). Spurs probably will stay competitive. Bulls are a wild card with new FO and coach staff. What are the teams worse than us? I guess Hornets, Kings, Cavs, Pistons, OKC, Magic and some 2 or 3 surprises at most.

Even with Fred VanVleet and some good FA help, its hard to be better than 0,3-0,35. I want Fred and good FAs for some reasons:
a) to make things easy for our rookies;
b) to develop a modern play style and a team play culture;
c) to make a better aesthetically game for fans;
d) to gain respectability with less embarrassing losses and some wins.

no. but why would he even stay then ? the only way you can get giannis, not that you really can, is keeping the 2 max slots open and signing him and someone who's a better number 2 than what he has now. kawai, paul george, bradley beal, etc. but again, not gonna happen.

the only shot you got is if he doesn't like the idea of joining an already good team like durant and wants to have his own team. personally, i think he'll force them to make a move and he'll stay. if that doesn't work he'll ask out 2 years from now and tell them i gave you a chance.

to be honest if I'm keeping one over the other im keeping mitch. Giannis is the #1 playmaker and we need shooters. The defense with Giannis/Mitch 4/5 would be insane. Then just surround them with shooters.

also I believe RJ holds more trade value since he is under control for a longer time. If we are trading for a star teams will want RJ. I think thats pretty obvious. A rebuilding bucks team won't care about adding a center.

I dont know maybe we bank on there being another amnesty with the new CBA to get rid of bledsoe? :lol:

I believe we would still have just about a max spot opened up with just Bledsoe and Giannis under contract. Mitch and our other players would be making zero money.

I better not hear you complain about spacing ever. You know Giannis and Mitch wont work, but perhaps it will since Mitch is backup anyway.

if you are running the P&R between Giannis and Mitch with 3 guys being able to shoot sitting around them. You really think that would kill our spacing?

he is, which makes this interesting (not specifically for the knicks). But the bucks if he doesn't want to resign probably have to look to deal him because if he leaves with no return assets that franchise is f*cked for the next 10 years.

i mean if they are fielding offers we will sure call and every asset will be on the trade block that is for sure. Do we have enough? I don't know but if the bucks also want to get rid of Bledsoe as well we are the only team that could potentially take him into cap space.

But Atlanta could literally offer Collins, Reddish, and there #6 pick and my guess that would blow any deal the knicks can come up with out of the water

Even if we were able to get him, why would he stay here with a bunch of scrubs since we've traded everything worth anything to get him?

He'd have a much worse supporting cast than Milwaukee.

Definitely a risk, but with a player of the level and age Giannis is, I think you accept that risk, pay any cost and try to figure it out in the next year.

well in that case you would have to have a similar situation to Kawhi/PG13. You would have to have AD lined up to sign and then trade for Giannis.

Or you just role the dice. Trade for him to get his bird rights...even with bledsoe lets say the knicks would still have another max spot opened up so in the 2021-22 FA Giannis would get to pick the star to come play with him...it would be a risk but my guess is our franchise would take it...we are kinda desperate lol
