Do these dopes really want a league with 4 stacked teams and then a bunch of garbage?

It works well in Europe where teams participate in various Leagues and Cups which creates a complex system of individual targets that fans of all levels of teams can celebrate. Even avoiding relegation is an awesome achievement for "small" teams. Some fans even follow their local team and also follow one of the 3-4 "big" teams to get their big games fix. It's just how fandom works over there.

In the NBA where it's Championship or death not having some sort of parity wouldn't make sense, they'd lose half their fans.
Having said that, this fixation with "nobody remembers the 2nd team" is pretty unhealthy to be honest. It means that as an NBA fan you are statistically guaranteed to be angry 29 out of 30 years.

I could see Lasry leaking it for his own vanity exercise. Shows him being proactive and in communication with Giannis. I don't think they're allowed to engage in any contract talks before the window opens, so that might explain the lack of mention of that.

I don't see the benefit exactly to Giannis's camp leaking it, unless they're trying to lay the groundwork for a trade demand. But I just don't see it when he said right after the season that he wasn't going to seek a trade.

Hell, I wonder what his mindset is right now. I could see him getting progressively more pissed off about everything, but the alleged incident with the fans at Cafe Benelux doesn't sound like the Giannis we know. Do we know whether that story is legit?

Chris Haynes is related to Mariah in some way. He is the Antetokounmpo mouthpiece.

If he leaves (he has every right to do what he wants) he's going to get so much **** lol. He would be viewed as KD 2.0.

Maybe ownership got pressured by Giannis, but maybe they also put the pressure on him to go out and recruit someone? Idk just trying to think of what they met about.

And wasn’t Haynes the one who got the exclusive “I won’t demand a trade”? If this is Giannis’ camp then it’s maybe showing his dedication? It would seem sloppy if that’s the case. It’s sloppy mainly because there’s a set narrative and this adds nothing to the narrative other than we have no idea what’s coming when the shoe drops of “why” - which I’m guessing we will find out.

The Benelux story is BS. One tweet on twitter trying to get views.

Giannis has to realize it's impossible to recruit a superstar to Milwaukee. KD wasn't the first player to do what he did but I agree that Giannis will get similarly criticized if he joins a team like Golden State or Dallas. I'm sure he's aware of this and it's going to depend on what he values more, Individual accolades or team success.

Or maybe he just hates change. He's a classic creature of habit, remember how distressed he was on his first year when his family wasn't around, then he wanted to buy the old Bucks facility because he was used to it, his sleeping and work out routines every day, the fact he brought his brother over, how he hated when they took away Kidd and his staff, one girlfriend all this time in America, and so on.

He probably gets panic attacks at the thought of moving and settling down again. Not that he wouldn't if he felt he absolutely has to, but I'm pretty sure he'd rather avoid it.

I'm guessing the luxury tax might have come up in the meeting. :D

I'd honestly say it's more likely that Giannis says he doesn't want any key players traded (unless it's s no-brainer) than it is that he would threaten to leave. He seems like the type who would want his guys to have a shot at redemption.

If he did specifically say what he thinks the Bucks should change, it was probably stupid stuff anyway. Like trade for Kostas and hire Mark Jackson as POBO or something.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

Why does the thread title say the meeting is tomorrow? The article said they met today.

You're talking about first and second year Giannis, when everything Milwaukee was his security blanket. The famous DNA quote was made under those circumstances as well. That Giannis is all grown up, has seen the country, and has had every superstar and agent in his ear. The DNA quote was replaced with a Divorce quote. Fans think they know these guys, but they don't. It wouldn't shock me either way, but venturing a guess on what happens is ridiculous

It’s Saturday night. Mickey and pp hit the bottle hours ago and don’t know what they’re typing or even who they are.

I guess Ive never been too worried about Giannis leaving. Still feel that way.

For all we know the meeting could've been him saying hes gonna sign and the FO just needs to worry about the peripheral moves.

Beorn wrote:Jesus, I am going to make to printscreen this post and share it with friends, they still laugh when they recall the time you mentioned as possible Greek NT callups Fotsis (who was 40yo at the time and playing in his neighborhood, regional-league club) and Apostolidis (who never became a starter in any of the **** Greek A1 teams, and was playing in the 2nd division at the time of the post)
Or the time you were comparing Chrysikopoulos with Larry Bird in another board

Of all the players you mentioned it this post, only Papapetrou is a starting Euroleague player, and Sasa is an excellent shooter who can't guard Yi's chair.
None else can be trusted to play consistently 15 mins in a competitive EL team, sadly:
Thanasis is a BCL-level player, Mitoglou and Papajohn have some potential but their were net negatives last year in their limited roles, Koniaris was a terrible guard who couldn't dribble or pass and won't be part of Olympiakos' team next year, Bochoridis failed miserably in Panathinaikos and has been moderately successfull in relegation-zone greek teams, Agravanis is a moron who was an average Eurocup player last year after being the 5th big of Olympiakos for a couple of years, Larentzakis has been a consistently mediocre guy in BCL who flopped in a below average spanish team last season, Athinaiou -despite being healthy- played in less than half of his team's games in his 2-year euroleague tenure, while Nikolaidis and Kalaitzakis have played 25 mins of EL basketball TOGETHER, and that only because Nikolaidis was forced to play in the senior Oly team because they had 7 active players at some point of the season. Poku has not played to a level above the 2nd greek division yet :)

It's very clear that you have never seen a EuroLeague game. It's also very clear you have zero knowledge about any Greek basketball players. I remember previous threads with you talking about the "young Greek players" and you were wrong on literally every single player and prediction you made, while I was right on every single one. Why don't you show your friends all those great predictions you made about young Greek players in previous threads, that turned out totally wrong in every instance.

No way have you ever seen a EuroLeague game.

You also are taking things said by others out of context and taking the concept of moving the goal posts to a very high level. I doubt if you have ever seen a Greek player play, if they were not wearing a Bucks jersey. I doubt if you even have seen a non Bucks NBA game.

Yeah, I mean I don't even know my own self sometimes.
But on the other hand watching a guy's every step and every quote for years and not even be able to form some sort of opinion on him is equally ridiculous.

Eww fans. Show some dignity.

How loud? How long?

It’s unfortunate that people don’t know how to behave in public. Let alone among the most known person in Milwaukee right now.

It was a 5 minute ordeal. A manager had to go separate the two groups and tell the guys who were asking him for photos to leave

I work at Cafe Hollander in Brookfield. Benelux is part of the same family and I know multiple people who work over there. It happened unfortunately. Doesn’t mean it needs to be a big deal but Giannis is obviously frustrated and is having a hard time figuring out his next steps. He’s a strong guy though, I’m not worried about any of this currently.

Fair point. Brett Favre turned heel pretty fast.

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
