Re: 2020 NBA Draft Prospects: Thread II
I think we should avoid Ball and Edwards because neither seems like they have a lot going on upstairs.
Look at the top guys in the playoffs, they are dialed in mentally and you can see it in their eyes.
Ball and Edwards resting faces seem like they are saying "huh?" all the time.

If somehow Okungwu dropped to #6 and the Hawks offered it and Hunter/Huerter for #1, I could accept that but I still believe Wiseman is the right choice.

Remember, "daddy" has seen a major market eat up and spit out his oldest son already. Why would he want a major market for LaMelo?
Because everything he's done for his kids so far is to market them as widely as possible and use them to build business and the best way to continue that is to get them in the largest markets to do so and be just as loud as he's always been. Sure, maybe hoping for him to get drafted highly onto an idiot franchise that annoints any top pick as a starter for 5 years irregardless of their play could also be an option in his head. But it still probably pales in comparison with the money that could be made from draft day to a couple seasons in the Knicks market for example. A team that sucks so often but is a major revenue generating team.

Fair question with a very honest answer...endorsements. What he could earn in MIN is pittance compared to what he would earn in NYC or LA for example. It’s not fair to use Lonzo as an example because LA used him as a big chip to land AD.

yeah. The city a player plays in doesn't mean what it used to. It still counts for something, but not as much.

LaMelo is already a brand entity. To me, the importance of markets comes when someone is still trying to create recognition for themselves.
LaMelo has 5.6 million Instagram followers. Karl-Anthony Towns has 2.8 million. Joel Embiid has 4.3 million.

I don't think the full video has been posted yet. This might be one of my favorites yet.

I'll watch in a bit, but I'm guessing 40 minutes of analyzing dunking, 3 point shooting and shot blocking.

Totally agree, you don't need workouts, scouts or professionals to look for talent, only look at their eyes

Better than using their smiles, I guess.
Personally I prefer the ears. Big ears makes them less aerodynamic but too small and they can't tell what's going on around them. There's a lot of nuance, you've got to find the sweet spot.

I agree with urinesane's conclusion, but I'm a bit skeptical about his method.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft Prospects: Thread II
Scouting prospects is moot if the scout doesn’t know what good looks like... when it comes to the draft, 9/10 years there’s some luck involved. There simply are not many prospects who are a given, and at the same time, there are few “true talent” scouts outside the statistics.

TEE HEE!
We communicate a lot more non-verbally than verbally. If you are going to draft a player that needs a lot of work in certain areas, it's definitely a much better sign if the person is sharp mentally.

So here's the other option instead of trading for Gordon. But how can MN draft him #1 or in the top ten if RealGM consensus has him outside top 10? Does not compute.

Hey uh, anyone ever hear much about this guy? #33 maybe? Boise but watch what he's capable of at his height.

Because the guy looks like one of the worst perimeter defenders in the draft. Is that what you want when Towns already struggles in that area defensively.
