LOL nah, guy. You were willing to put $ on the Celtics finishing 8 or worse. Don’t give me that 5-10 BS. Quit trying to back-pedal and just own it.

who isnt "owning" it?

I didnt "say" id put money on it, I did, with it being that boston would finish 5 or lower. I did 100% say id bet they finish 8th or worse, i got a better bet. in either event, i never denied saying i thought they would be an 8th seed or worse, or backpeddle on that at all.

I acknowledge that early on my 2 concerns for them havent been an issue at all. Why exactly is this a bad thing? Is it not ok to admit when you are wrong about something or at least wrong about something short term?

it seems like you are just looking for some dolt to just saying "nah da celticz suck yo" so that you can post memes and make fun of them. I'm not that person. I've never been. I've consistently admitted when i was wrong here about oth the nets and other teams/players. im not going to conceed anything after 10 games. i still think boston is a bottom of the east team over the season and the nets will finish much higher.

If im wrong ill be here and eat crow as i always do (See: 180 i did on jokic, the 180 i did on orlando, the 180 i did on siakim)

What’s it like being an embarrassment?

To be fair you may be able to 180 back around on Siakam now.

They are necessarily worse. Horford was the most important piece to their success. Been that way for a few years. I like the Kemba fit a little better than the Kyrie fit, but the difference there is negligible.

Their best hope is for the young guys to take a significant next step.

A whole lot of posts like this in this thread.

Horford is just another one of what is it 10+ players now that should donate half their check to Stevens that his coaching tricked some other team into dramatically overpaying them for.

Important to note: at this point in time, Theis was thought to be playing in Germany this season. If they were limited to Kanter/Timelord, they would not be as successful as they are now. Still they've surpassed my expectations with or without Theis.

Hmm... I don't recall ever hearing Theis was supposed to play in Germany this season. Pretty sure when the OP was made he was still with the team just hurt and that was the preseason. We signed him as our starting Center for a reason, not to not have him.

But yeah and I want to make it clear this wasn't just your post. I just didn't want to bother quoting a bunch because it's the same story over and over for Steven's teams. He makes players look good, they get big money elsewhere, they're a coin flip as to being still good or bad.

And he's had top defenses with a starting lineup of Kelly 0 and Jared Sullinger in the frontcourt, it's not new for Stevens.

That said, it was said over and over how Horford as an old aging Center was key and not even stopping to consider that Stevens was merely playing to his strengths and hiding his weaknesses on defense when possible (which starts by exclusively playing him at Center but everyone knows that).

Stevens has solely earned players on his teams a lot of money in free agency (Horford and Evan Turner being the biggest examples).

Raptors exposed their lack of top end talent.

Smart is elite defensively and Brown is very good but will Cs be able to get enough tough buckets when they’re facing teams with offenses capable of lighting it up?

Kemba is incredible but he’s a smurf. Go small and switch and life gets a lot harder for him.

Raptors dared Tatum to have a big series by guarding him with their worst on ball defender in Lowry who played free safety in help defense. For the most part it worked. Raps just couldn’t score enough on the other end.

Tatum: Averages 24/10/5 in the series against the Raptors.

You: See, the Raptors strategy of nullifying Tatum worked.

You're projecting here. It was the Raptors who were exposed for their lack of top end talent, not the Celtics.

I can’t imagine what someone like Kawhi or even Jimmy Butler would’ve averaged had Raptors tried to guard them like that.

Celtics fans don’t want to hear it but Tatum’s 24 and 5 were kind of hollow. Their Ortg was only 102 with Tatum on the court vs. 119 with him off, by far the worst on the team.

Raps Jedi mind tricked him. They lost the series because they couldn’t score not because Tatum was good. He was merely ok despite having the best match up of anyone all series (edit: this is a little harsh. He was fine. Celtics won.)

Ya thanks to the refs.

Tatum might as well of been wearing a red pinny all series like the QBs do in practice because the refs called a foul everytime he was breathed on.

This thread is magic.

Daniel Theis gets disrespected on this forum almost as much as he does by NBA refs. Dude was great on D all season and none of you saw it coming despite what Celtics fans tried to tell you
