Giannis is giving the Bucks too many chances to win a championship. This recent loss to the Heat was the fifth time since Giannis joined the team that they have failed to reach the Finals. The closest they got was last season and they lost to the Raptors. The team mainly consists of older veteran players with big long term deals now. Instead of holding the GM and their coach responsible for the recent playoff ouster to Miami, the Bucks said they won't trade Giannis and will try to get CP3 to replace Eric Bledsoe as starting PG. That isn't much of an upgrade and it makes the Bucks older. Also, no word on offering Giannis the supermax. Bucks GM Jim Horst rescinded Jabari Parker's offer and made him an UFA and he is now a rising player with the Kings. I think he let Malcolm Brogdon go and this affected Giannis to the point of saying he missed him. Brogdon would have helped the Bucks in the playoffs more than Bledsoe as he can shoot the 3-ball. He was also another young player like Giannis on the team.

I don't think Giannis has said anything about the bad coaching nor about the moves GM Jim Horst made except for missing Eric Brogdon. Maybe he liked Jabari Parker, too.

Do you think Giannis is doing the right thing or is he a putz? He does not have a player's option on his last year like most superstars in the league and it's unprecedented that he's talking with the ownership over the direction of the team. The writing has been on the wall for some time and he should refuse the supermax and force his way out of Milwaukee. Hopefully, he'll demand a trade to the Warriors, too, before he forces his way out as UFA after 2021!

Milwaukee messed up last offseason and they're locked into a roster of aging players outside of Giannis/Middleton/Divicenzo, but the rest of your post is pretty laughable. The Bucks made the playoffs in Giannis' second year, fourth, and fifth years under Jason Kidd, but none of those rosters were built for contending and Giannis was young enough that making it o the finals would have been seen as overachieving. Paul would be a huge upgrade on Blesdoe. And Jabari is far from a rising player. He's been on four teams since Milwaukee decided against matching his contract offer. He played six games for the Kings and he's torn his ACL twice in his career. He's a bench scorer who has 0 interest in playing defense.

He would have to pull a Kawhi or AD, naming specific teams, threatening not to sign the super max.

He does need assurances from the team since they let Brogdon go and got nothing back for him. If they matched the Pacers offer, they could have done a sign and trade or kept him this year but eventually trade him for other assets.

It's a small market team so there should be questions about how much money they will pay in luxury taxes to compete.

Let’s be clear. Whatever discussions they have, I doubt we would ever know the actual truth of what was said.

Pretty much. All smoke screens and spinning for sure.

Weird...but I just think we can't overestimate the joy and success that the Warriors have had....and the appeal of Giannis coming to play next to the nicest and top 3 player in the league. He doesn't strike me as the guy that needs to be the alpha....What team in the NBA offers the ability to run free in an offense while Curry and Klay bomb away....and the tic tac to of Draymond lobbing to Giannis...oh my.

Latest Giannis news. One is the strange action of him unfollowing all his Bucks teammates on IG. Then he had a three-hour lunch with the owner Marc Lasry last Friday in which Lasry confirmed to Giannis that he would spend into the luxury tax for top players --

. This is doubtful if all they're adding is CP3  . Another old guy for the Bucks  .

What wasn't discussed is really what is troublesome if I were a Bucks fan, but there may be reasons why Giannis didn't bring it up. Prior to COVID-19, he would have been in line for approximately $250 million over five years. With the expected cap hit due to the global pandemic and fractured business relationship with China, the supermax might even look like a regular max contract. In addition to the Bucks getting knocked out again in second round, Giannis may not have thought about signing it. It would make sense for him to wait until after next season to consider it when there will likely be more money in the league and several more options to consider such as being traded to the Warriors or becoming an UFA.

I don’t know next season may not have higher revenues if they can’t have full stadia for the season.

By that reasoning Curry should have left GS before first championship.

Just look at the Bucks playoff history of failures with Giannis -- https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/teams/Milwaukee-Bucks/16/Playoff-History.

Next season will be another one for the Giannis sweepstakes since he won't sign his supermax unless the Bucks win. Heat, Raptors,(can make cap space to sign him outright), Celtics Clippers, Mavericks, Lakers, and Warriors are the favorites to land him in that order. Some teams may be even. The Warriors have to show that they are back in contention for a ship next year and let Giannis' friendship with Steph do the rest.

Warriors failed to reach finals first 5 seasons of Curry’s career.

Warriors failed to reach finals first 5 seasons of Curry’s career.

They started from a pretty low base though. Drafting Klay and then the 2012 draft with 3 rotation players and having them develop obviously had the team jump up to a very competitive playoffs team.

Plus Curry had injuries during those first 5 seasons didn't he? So he didn't become an MVP and all-NBA level player until what, his 7th or 8th season?

Giannis can stay in Milwaukee but he will be 30 when his super max deal finishes. They have to hit on some more all-star level players in the late first round or the second round for the team to go up, because it doesn't seem like they can get significant players back in trade without giving up either Middleton or Giannis himself.

Trying to remember how old Lebron was when he left Cleveland, probably 27 or so?

So Giannis likely either leaves now or next season or not until he's 30 probably. He will have been in the league for 11 seasons by then.

He either trusts the owners and front office to make big deals or he doesn't. Or he assesses that roster, like Lebron did in 2012. Or AD did last season, and decide to bolt for greener pastures.

Kawhi left San Antonio for personal reasons but Spurs probably weren't going to go far if he stayed so that may have been a basketball calculation.

Giannis has to ask himself if a top 5 player is enough to win titles or he has to go to other clubs where he can join up with other top stars. LBJ and AD decided it wasn't.

Sure, it's not apples to apples. It just stuck out to me how "failed to reach finals in first 5 years" was a yardstick that applied to our best player as well. What would we have thought if some Bucks fan was telling us it was time for Curry to move on?

If I read it actually happened, I'll get excited about Giannis, but for now just assuming it's going to be draft pick(s) and TPE/MLE acquisitions, which is fine. Been a while since we could look forward to seeing a potential star rookie, actually hoping we still get to.

Curry in his 2 MVP years resulted in two Finals appearances, 1 title, 1 record-setting regular season.

Giannis in his two MVP seasons got to the ECF and then a 2nd round exit.

He could rack up more MVPs in the next 5-7 years. But will he and the Bucks break through?

But does it matter, if he gets one more MVP, he's likely to become a HoF player.

Not technically a confirmation. He thanks the fans and says he's "looking forward to next season"...but not necessarily in Milwaukee. But yes, it seems exceedingly unlikely he'd post things like that and tell a reporter a week ago he's not leaving, and then still bail. But, time and circumstances change and you never know.

Just bummed we still have to wait over 2 months for the draft, I can't wait until 2020 is in the rear view, worst year ever.
