Re: 2019-20 Season: Draft, Trades, and FA Ideas Thread V2
I think the top 3 potential trade targets for the Raptors should be:
Giannis - I think if you can make a trade for him, you do it. No questions asked. Then you build around Giannis. Which shouldn't be too tough when you have a Giannis and a great FO. Pascal+ would probably have to go the other way and we'd probably have to take on a bad contract (Bledsoe/Hill).
Oladipo - Potentially a buy-low situation. The Pacers have had success without him, can be a bit of an injury concern, and a FA next season. They might want to get some assets back for him without the chance of losing him for nothing. I think Powell would like be the centerpiece of any deal.
Adams - I think the perfect replacement for Gasol/Ibaka. Great defensively and an amazing passer. Would fit our offensive perfectly. There are rumors that the Thunder might trade-off their vets and rebuild. Adams is still pretty young (only 27) but, like Oladipo, he is a FA in 2021. The only deal I could see working is an S&T with Fred but I don't think that would be likely.

I think he'd just get the biggest contract he can. Wood be nice for the 4 year MLE with max raises and give him a player option 4th year so he can opt out at age 28.

Agreed with Giannis and VO.
I dont think Adams makes sense or is realistic He does expire but makes 27 mill. In modern nba why invest that much into a big that cannot stretch. Id rather resign serge

With inconsistent PT he's been able to shoot over 36% from 3. He's like the rich man's version of Boucher.

Yap, good call. I really like this guy. I feel like he is going to get PAID!!!! like you said, he is a better + younger version of Boucher (i like Boucher too..with minutes in Detroit, his numbers might have been close to Woods)
Gasol (25.5 Mil) + Ibaka (23.5 Mil) = 49mil of front court money is coming off our books this summer so we should be able to through some his way.

We need Ibaka to start, so we sign him - hoping he takes a wink wink - 1 yr 25 MM. But we need to keep Fred - Lowry needs to start to transition to the bench - he will be another year older next year. Fred is your starter going forward. We then need a starting two guard who can create his own shot - likely as the 3rd option behind Siakim, Fred and ahead of Ibaka. Sadly Wiggins may be a good option for that role. He doesn't need to be the primary.
The problem is neither Lowry or Fred would want to come off the bench. If we intend to keep Lowry for a few more seasons, we may have to either let Fred walk, or sign and trade him. The more I think about it, if Fred is pegged as our main SG, I rather have him walk and sign a real SG (someone over 6'4). We can get a new back up PG from the draft or in FA (i.e. like Tyler Ennis)
I would go with DJ Augustin for the min for the 2nd time around.
Shoots the 3 at around 37%, good A/T. He doesn't play scared and a vet with playoff experience.
Actually, maybe steal Brad Wannamaker away from Boston.

Then you realise the Raptors used the BAE on Stanley Johnson!
I guess can split the MLE into Baynes ($5.5 million) and Wanamaker ($4.255 million).

To Orlando:
Fred VanVleet sign and trade
sign Ibaka to a giant one year deal.
Sign Gasol to a 1 year 6 m deal
sign Justin Holiday to a 1 year 8 mill deal
sign Thon Maker to a min
Beal and Siakam would be an irresistible lure for Giannis.
Lowry/Beal/Powell/Siakam/Ibaka
Davis/Thomas/Holiday/Maker/Gasol
Can easily win the chip next season while still luring Giannis.
Wow that is awful for Washington. You'd barely get buddy hield with that offer.

If Clippers made Paul George available this summer, should the Raptors be calling?

No. He's not the #1 option the NBA and media make him out to be.

They’d ask for Kyle and that might be worth it if you wanna sell Giannis as a star supporting cast, (Fred would have to be let go)
Supporting cast would be PG, OG and Siakam. Maybe makes sense to trade one for a gaurd
But at the same time after his last 3 playoff performances are you selling anyone on PG?

Depends; do you want playoff success? If so, then probably hang up the phone.

To be fair, Doc is a terrible coach and Nurse would utilize him better. Doc just had him chucking up shots.

James Harden seems to want to play with his old OKC teammates...and I think they'd be seriously interested in Serge Ibaka and Daryl Morey loves to trade guys so.....
Serge Ibaka sign and traded (20 million a year?) and Harrison Barnes to HOU
Bogdan Bogdanovic sign and traded to TOR
Robert Covington and Eric Gordon to SAC
Bogdan as our starting 2 would be freaking amazing.
Rockets retool with a big man because MDA isn't around anymore to push small ball. Ibaka is everything they need: shot blocker, floor spacer who can shoot the 3. Barnes is like Eric Gordon but taller and can actually start at the 3/4.
Sacramento gets an upgrade in Covington over Barnes since Cov is a better defender. Gordon off the bench gives them scoring.

Any interest in Jae Crowder? I think he's UFA this off-season - making 8 mill now.
I'm starting to be interested in other ways of spending the money earmarked for Freddy, especially since Kyle looks ageless. Chris Paul is a year older, and has many more miles on him. And he still seems to have a positive value.

Forget that...
Nick would boxed-and 1'd the **** out of Murray for the entire series. Murray wouldn't have gone off on the Clippers if Nick were coaching...

Re: 2019-20 Season: Draft, Trades, and FA Ideas Thread V2
Here’s one, between Toronto and Orlando.
- Orlando has Isaac out for the season, a $122M roster on the books, and a need for a winning PG who can unlock Gordon and Vucevic.
- Toronto loves Lowry, but he expires next year, and they’re paying Fred Van Vleet this off-season and would like to stay competitive.
Trade:
Orlando in: Kyle Lowry
Toronto in: Terrence Ross, Markelle Fultz, Khem Birch
Magic: Lowry / Fournier / Aminu / Gordon / Vucevic
Raptors: FredVV / Ross / Anunoby / Siakam / Ibaka
Fultz, Norm and Davis as bench backcourt. Birch and Boucher in the front court to round out the top 10.
Toronto gets to stay a playoff contender while retaining cap for next year. Fultz at 21 years old is the big upside prospect.
