Doc Rivers: I'm the coach, and I'll take any blame for it.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/29895810/coach-doc-rivers-says-take-blame-la-clippers-eliminated-playoffs

"That's the bottom line. I'm the coach, and I'll take any blame for it. But we didn't meet our expectations, clearly, because if we had, in my opinion, we'd still be playing."

Then goes on to point out lack of calls after game 5/6, his players conditioning, their lack of time together, lack of chemistry, etc.

If you say you're going to take the blame for it, then take the blame for it.

- I didn't hold guys accountable.
- I kept playing Trez the last two games despite us getting killed when he was guarding Jokic.
- I had no reliable sets that we worked on that guaranteed my best players would get a high percentage shot or have teammates spaced effectively.
- I made no attempt to disrupt the Nuggets offensive flow when they got hot. My answer to their runs was to sit in the same defense they had seen all game/series and just keep taking it on the chin.
- I made no adjustments based on how the game was playing out.
- I barely played Morris in game 7 because ... uh... yea
- I could not inspire my guys to care. (this is a tough one... im 50/50 where I think players should just care to begin with)

Rapz out in 7 in round 2 and Clippers same. In a three point make league whoever is hot can win a series. Would love to know the Vegas odds here.

I thought Doc was a spectator? He’s the most overrated coach I’ve ever seen. Only relies on His roster talent to carry him.

Doc wasn't making George hit the side of the backboard.

We found out that a Nurse is better than a Doc.

Most overrated coach by a mile but LOL at him trying to deflect blame for Kawhi and George.

Doc isn't a very good coach. If I'm the Clips I think about wacking him given that two elite coaches are currently available (D'Antoni and Donovan). I doubt however they throw him under the bus, which is great because it increases the odds of them falling short again next season.

Lol his teams have been eliminated 3 times while up 3-1 and I think a total of 6 times while also up 3-2.

He has always been a very overrated coach. He may be the most overrated coach in sports.

Doc is sooo over hyped.

He was a trash coach with the Celtics (Had Pierce, Rondo, double-double Al Jefferson + some ok role players, and only won 24 games!)

Then he was gifted the original 'big 3' when Danny AInge had his masterclass off season with Ray Allen and KG. But even then, and even with winning 1 ring, that Celtics team somewhat underachieved.. with that talent (3 HOF'ers in prime + Playoff Rondo) , they should have at least 2 rings, not 1... but regardless, Doc channeled the glory of that 1 ring into this league wide perception that he's a master class coach, which he simply is not.

Is Doc a good guy? Sure, I guess, albeit egotistical. Relatable to players? Fine. Good coach? Naw. Hellzzzz naw.

Clippers mortgaged the future. And this dude massively underachieved in a depleted Western conference. This might have been the best chance they had. Kawhi can't handle heavy stress on his body due to the degenerative quad as you can see this game. Going forward, I doubt Paul George can win enough games to make playoff seed by himself while Kawhi load manages in the regular season.

Kawhi isn't carrying a Clippers team in a Western conference that has Lebron James, Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, James Harden, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, Jokic ... on and on.

That is a warzone.

he should've been fired years ago. I've always maintained that he was a terrible coach.

unfortunately, I think he knows where the bodies are buried (under the table deals with Lou/Kawhi, who know how many more)...he'll either stay, get moved to a FO position, OR get some hush money.

Doc Rivers is at his best when he has a team that has no expectations. Clippers last year and Orlando Magic in his first year coaching.

If it wasn't for Danny Ainge getting a buddy-buddy deal from McHale for KG, than nobody would consider Doc an above-average coach.

He's mad overrated.

Doc seems best suited for coaching a team that's a fringe playoff team, and getting them into the playoffs.

No matter how bad he is as a coach, George and Kawhi just choked hard. Lebron had some horrible coaches in Cleveland and still stepped up in big games, just goes to show how much better he is than these guys. Only real Goat in this era is Lebron.

He should be fired for sure.

Terrible coach who needed to be carried by Pierce, Garnett and Allen.

more of a motivator/players coach, not so much with the technical x/o of basketball.

remember how nurse called out RHJ and Stanley johnson in the preseason, rivers will never do that.
