He's still an NBA player, but he's not going to impact every series any more. The game's changed so much over the past few years.

If it's at a good price, I'm fine with him coming back. He just doesn't command the type of money I'm sure he wants and will get in Europe.

I have been saying this for a while now. He has accomplished everything he can in the NBA. He won a title making max dollars and then got paid big money last season despite playing like a mid-level exception center. Good for him.

He would no doubt have to take a huge pay cut to ring chase, but I think he has more integrity than to join a team like the Warriors. I could see him wanting to reconnect with his Spanish culture.

Honestly, he looked great in the FIBA tourney last year, so I could see him getting well-paid and winning a Euroleague title with Barcelona. He is already familiar with Mirotic from the Spanish NT and if Toronto drafts that Bolmaro kid he can prep him for the NBA next year.

Marc still does charity work in Spain. He has young kids and just spent the lockdown in Europe. I'm sure that he's actively considering his retirement plans and a stint in the Spanish league gives him a stepping stone towards his post-playing days.

Another factor would be the delayed Olympics. The Euroleague season is shorter and I figure since many countries involved it all of the European leagues would finish before the Olympics. I would think Marc would like 1 more shot to represent Spain.

Kind of surprising. Figured he would go back to Memphis since he's spent a lot of his life there.

Ibaka might be pricy as well..so not sure if he returns.. we should make a run at Hassan Whiteside..a big that is mobile enough and does play defence..offensively not too bad either..

Point God Marc still an NBA rotation player. Can't play him extended minutes, but for 20 minutes a game, he can still do well with the right squad.

Marc had some solid moments for the Raptors last year, but overall he was a liability that people talked themselves into. Bigs are undervalued in the league right now, you can pick up guys like Richaun Holmes from the scrap heap basically. Unfortunately Masai has more of a penchant for lumbering bigs who can playmake like Gasol and Greg Monroe.

That would surprise me a bit because I know other contenders would be interested. Gasol has different priorities than most, though.

Gasol has never been properly appreciated by the fans here, even when he was an integral part of the championship run. Some are going to be in for a rude awakening when the defense takes a massive hit next year.

Barcelona is one of my favourite cities in the world.

I would, without hesitation move there for work if I could. But also have family to consider :|

A "penchant." Really don't know why you are comparing Monroe who is a bonafide role player and weak defensive player to Gasol who was a perennial all-star and leader of the grit n grind grizzlies and former defensive player of the year. I seriously doubt you actually watch basketball regularly by your posts.

We got Gasol last year because he was an upgrade over JV at that juncture. He was phenomenal against Vucevic, Embiid and provided amazing help defense against Giannis.

Yeah he's declining and was rough offensively in the bubble, but that trade was a huge piece in getting us a title. Without Gasol we likely don't get past the Sixers.

I think most rational people (not you of course) would be glad to have that one great year of Gasol in 2019 and winning a chip and enduring his decline this year in 2020.

I heard he’s interested in becoming exec. So his return to Europe also may align with his future plans.

Plus looks like at least Europe is doing much better than The US in terms of covid.
