Get Jrue to the Nets

Post#1 » by Prokorov » Wed Sep 16, 2020 3:05 pm

Read on Twitter

What works to get Jrue to the Nets? Not saying this tweet is anywhere near reliable but Jrue is the name i through around all year as the perfect piece to go with Kyrie and KD. Gives us our MArcus Smart type All-NBA defender and is also a 20/8 guy who can step into Kyrie role for the games he misses. also provides offense for the games KD misses and even when both are out Jrue/Levert is enough offense to keep us in games.

I dont see a fit with NO though. I think Dinwiddie has more value than Levert so that makes some sense and is less of a salary commitment. Allen to me is a head scratching since Hayes is a younger clone of Allen with maybe even a higher ceiling and Favors in tow until he blossoms. Musa/Picks is just c chip filler.

I would think it would be a 3 team trade. Nets pieces just dont fit the pelicans.

Untouchable:
KD, Kyrie, Joe Haris, Deandre Jordan (probably)

Key trade chips:
Levert (3 years, 17.5 Per)
Dinwiddie (2 years, 12 per, 2nd year player option)
Allen (1 year, 4 million)
Prince (2 years 12.5 per)

filler/throw ins:
Dzanan musa (3 left on rookie deal)
Rodions Kurucs (3 years left on rookie deal)
Nic Claxton (2 years 1.6 per)
Garret Temple (1 year 5 million)

Picks:
#19 this year
Denvers 2nd rounder this year
All our own picks moving forward in round 1
Atlanta, indy, and suns 2021 second rounders

My best stab at it would be:

-Levert, #19 to the pelicans
-Allen, 2023 protected to a 3rd team
-3rd team sense allen level asset that fits to the pelicans (they get the nets 2023 pick as compensation to facilitate)
-Jrue to the nets

Boston doesn't really need another developmental center imo, but at basically free and turning a late 1st they don't want this year into a future first, they do this as just an asset play.

Boston steals value in your version.

I dont see Allen as developmental, he can do what Robert Williams does but more experienced at it

If Nets really need MArcus Smart type All-NBA defender well Patrick Beverley just become available for your Spencer Dinwiddie. :)
2023 Clippers W/L Count (44-27)
(Russ at bench 35-14)
without PG13 3-3
Without Kawhi 3-3
Without Russ 6-6

Beverly i dont think quite fits the nets situation, especially in a dinwiddie swap.

Of our 4 players who have shown they can give you 20 a game over a long stretch (Kyrie/KD/Dinwiddie/Levert) Dinwiddie is the only who has proven durable. Beverly surely fits the defensive end but if/when those other guys miss games, we dont have the offense to make up for it.

Part of why Jrue is such an optimal target is that he can be that lead guard, give you a semi efficient 20 as a #1 or #2, and still provide beverly level defense and realtively good off ball 3 point shooting.

I think a deal around allen or levert and or #19 for Beverely makes more sense. tough to move dinwiddie without bringing in injury free scoring

Brooklyn trades Levert, Allen, Musa, pick(s?) for Jrue
Boston trades Kanter, #17 for Allen
New Orleans trades Jrue for Levert, Musa, Kanter, picks

Tweaks are possible, of course. The question is whether the Pelicans even want to give up Jrue, and if they do, is ending up with three picks in the middle of the round (their own, Brooklyn's, Boston's) the way they want to go? They may end up wanting to re-consolidate.

Christ no, that's not nearly enough value for the Nets and we're not trading Allen to a division rivalry for nothing.

Dinwiddie, Allen, Prince, Musa for Jrue and Hayes or Hart. 3 team trades is a little tough for me.

Hayes wont work. he has similar or more value to allen. he is 75% of what Allen is now, younger, with more term left on his contract. Hart could work.

What's in it is a guy that can knock the 3 down pretty well and play decent 1 on 1 man defense. Prince is a slight overpay but he's only making 13M per , not 20M. He can also come off the bench or play the 4 in smaller lineups next to Ingram . He's more of a salary filler in this situation for Jrue.

You can't get Hayes or Hart added for this package.

LOL at you for not comprehending better, that part is only Bos part in taking Allen and giving additional assets in relations to whatever else Nets are giving to Pelicans

This is going based off the original post up above. So according to you Nets don't have the assets to get Jrue either way.
