Did Joakim Noah See a Single Minute Against Jokic?

Post#1 » by tsirigoj » Wed Sep 16, 2020 9:03 pm

For a team that lacked energy and had no response to Jokic, I'm sitting here wondering why Joakim Noah, known to be a high-energy defensive force and a disruptor in the paint, wasn't given a single minute of Jokic, especially in the 4th quarter of the most pivotal game the Clippers ever had where everyone, apparently, was feeling exhausted?

Hmmm....

He's been a washed up bum for years now.. Where have you been living? You thought Harrell was bad?Sheesh..

Given that the Clippers backs were up against the wall, I would have played Greg Oden to see what he could do against Jokic.

Noah is on the roster by name recognition only. Its been about 5-6 years since Noah was a positive impact player. But ya lets toss him in against the most skilled big man in the game, that wouldve gone great...

I almost started a thread about this yesterday. I definitely would have put Noah in there to bother Jokic.

I remember Noah got about 10 minutes his first game in the bubble. I thought he looked great for not having played in a year. Same energy and craftiness we remembered him having. At the very least, he would have made life a bit more difficult for Jokic and thrown him off a little. I'm shocked that he got no run. It's as if Doc forgot he was on the team.

No one is stopping Jokic. Lakers fans should be preparing themselves mentally for the beatdown.

Reggie Jackson not playing was the surprise.

DNP in Game 5, 1 minute in Game 6 and 4 minutes in Game 7. Total of 33 minutes for the series.

He went 16-28 (57%) from 3 vs Dallas.

They badly needed his 3pt shooting with Lou Williams going 4-27 (15%) and Shamet going 4-18 (22%).

Noah was a positive impact player last season for the Grizzlies.

I mean is this even really debatable at the moment?

He’s still productive and energetic in limited minutes. And he’s still a strong post defender.

What’s the point of signing him if you’re not going to use him against one of the main teams that you would need him against? Then again it’s Doc Rivers.

Skilled? Definitely.

But here are some 'big men' that are more skilled:
-Lebron
-Anthony Davis
-Giannis
-Durant (obviously when healthy)
-Joel Embiid

MAYBE I'll put Jokic on the same level as KAT, but that may also be pushing it.

KD is the only guy that is on the same level and KD is a perimeter player and not a big man. How in anyone's right mind is Joel Embiid more skilled than Jokic? I dont think even hardcore 6ers fans would say this.

Here is the voice of reason.

You and I saw the same game.

Obviously, Noah is a far cry from Derrick Rose's defensive anchor, but he still seemed very serviceable to me.

Do you know what the word "skill" means?

Please, explain how Giannis is a more skilled basketball player than Jokic.

Yes. You do realize Jokic is a top 10 player in the game while being arguably the least athletic guy in the league. There is a reason he is able to be as good as he is, its because of his elite skill level.
