glad he's getting paid, happy for him and his family but good riddance, fu*k BumVleet.

Really? You hated him in Bucks and Warriors series?

yes, every minute of it. I find his style of chucking up shots and garbage layups unbearable to watch.

I really doubt you were booing his clutch 3s. Really doubt it.

I think they’ll get creative with the contract to maintain flexibility for 2021 though

Do you consider FVV a true pg though?

Guard is a position of strength on the team - Lowry/Norm/Thomas/TD2. So we don't *have* to re-sign FVV.

The team needs to decide if FVV is the PG of the future. Because we can't afford to pay Lowry $30+ million and FVV $20+ million for more than a single bridge year. If we sign FVV, either next year is Lowry's last in a Raptors uniform or he agrees to a much lower dollar figure. I hope it's the latter - I'd be happy if he goes out like the Spurs vets, signing short-term contracts until he retires.

If it’s at $22 mill per year I can see the Raptors matching but, over that I think we walk.

I think the contract he signs in the end will be closer to $25 mill per year.

The contingency plan is sign a PG. The position is deep in the league, so we would likely have not much trouble signing a decent one. In the meantime Lowry is still under contract next year so the need for a lead PG isn't yet acute.

I want FVV back, but at $25M per year I wish him the best and move on.

Secure the bag, all the way

Even if you have to go to the knicks. Man has won the championship playing a serious role, started from the bottom.

Should be a decent trio wiith barret and randle.

Now has two kids a wife in an economy that will take long to recover. Get paid, answer questions later.
i miss the days when the bricks was only nineteeeeeeeen, i need a 100 right now

Fred/RJ/Mitch would compliment Giannis so good...

I would still be open to signing him and continue re-assessing the Giannis situation. Nothing is stopping us from trading him closer to the deadline for expiring contracts next year if we need to.

If it becomes clearer that Giannis to Toronto is happening / not happening we can then react accordingly.

I suspect one of the reasons that FVV will need give a home town discount is he knows the situation we are in (re Giannis) and Masai has shown that he will make the tough call and move on from loyal soldiers to help the team. (Demar, JV)

Losing him for nothing with no backup plan at the position is a Rob Babcock-type of move.

Masai knows this will be an easy decision to resign him - if he underperforms, you can always trade him.

Agreed. Worst case scenario, he struggles and we move him for an expiry and have to give up a first round pick to get it done to clear cap space for 2021.

if we're going to retain FVV, I hope we don't outbid ourselves. I feel like we may have done that by extending Pascal early. There was little chance that waiting out the year would result in Pascal commanding a bigger contract than what we gave him. Now we're in a situation where Freddy will use that deal as a benchmark for his own negotiations.

4/60 is the max I’d offer him. He’s not even the primary ball handler and he’s undersized. You don’t **** up your cap space on players like this.

Fred is only leaving if he wants to, not because he won't get the same money here.
