Still don't like him for us, I think he'll be best as a C with questionable at best defense, but he does produce. Looks pretty solid on offense, like a John Collins type player, maybe at the absolute peak he could get to Amare levels, but I doubt it.
I think for him to succeed he could potentially start at the 4...but he will have to finish as a 5 as the league continues to get more agile and quicker. I just don't see him having any real rim protection skills so he will have to be dominant on offense to warrant major minutes at a defensive crucial position like center.
That ultimately is why I don't like him for the Knicks because Mitch is our 5 and we have so many other areas of need. But I could see a team being interested who need front line scoring...and if the shot translates he can be a real weapon on that end.
John Collins is a solid comp. I just see Amare on defense (and not PHX Amare) NYK after major surgeries Amare on defense.
Im not pinnig for OBi, but lately he intrigues me. He's ready made offense even with the subpar defense. But what's often over looked is his passing skills. I think that's something that differentiates him and someone like John Collins.
Yes agreed. Him being a plus passer for a big is good. I wouldn't go as far as saying the man can have a offense run through him like Jokic. But he also doesn't force things with tunnel vision like an Amare used to.
His post up are pretty mechanical which is a concern and he is just so top heavy. I would have a concern about him muscling people down low because his lower half is pretty weak for a big.
He is a great vertical athlete but a pretty sub par lateral athlete.
I do have concerns about his range. He turned down a lot of outside shots which for him to really be a difference maker like Amare that shot needs to be automatic.
And obviously his draft age is a huge concern. You will be talking about someone who will be basically 23 when he plays his first NBA game. You have guys like Frank and DSJ who have been in the NBA for 3 years that are younger. So it pretty much means he has to produce and produce right away.
