Pretty comparable as players (Sabonis more offensively skilled, Siakam the more useful defender), in a vacuum I'd slightly lean Siakam. Then I'd further tilt in his favor that the Raptors don't yet have representation in my ideal (and I like having good teams represented), and I prefer Siakam's label as a PF to Sabonis who I view as a C.

According to your list don't you view Davis as a 5? He plays 4 a lot during the RS.

Doesn't most of Sabonis impact still come from defense?

Sure, some guys play both, but I'm not splitting the baby here and need to pick one way or the other to go with each guy.

You could argue that with Sabonis (more generally, not on this particular IND team due to who his replacements are). But I'm not sure how that's relevant to my statement? I still view Siakam as the better defender.

Lakers played 2 centers this season, seems pretty straightforward to me.

I don't know, I just find a hard time thinking that Siakam and Sabonis are equal players, much less Siakam being the better one.

What exactly makes Siakam good? His defense isn't really that special, it doesn't seem superior to Sabonis though maybe it is. Can the gap really be that big on defense between them?

Siakam legitimately played like Andrew Wiggins this season on offense. He started the season off hot, but has been pretty bad for most of it - excluding the post season where he was abysmal but of course that's not relevant to an all-nba selection.

yikes. Thats even worse than playoff Demar Derozan. Some dumb franchise is gonna pay him. My bet is the Knicks or Kings

I think Clippers re sign him. How else are they gonna improve? They'll build his value back up with big performances against mediocre teams and ship him out at the trade deadline. People will forget his playoff performance by then.

Clown on Siakam offensively all you want, but WHAT?

Siakam is elite defensively. Did you not watch the playoffs the past 2 years?

Random thought I've been having lately, but is Adebayo the closest thing we've seen to KG stylistically?

Not nearly as good of course, and his shoot is still a work in progress, but I feel like at his peak, he could become a 80% Garnett. A DPOY level defender capable of switching on anybody, awesome at grabbing boards, and on offense, a good secondary scorer who is able to stretch the floor and create for others with great passes and screens.

I certainly did - though we are talking about this year.

I’d have to see more of Bam’s passing improve to even come close to KG level, cause Bam’s offense is severely lacking in comparison. I did like what I saw in Game 1 of this Heat-Celtics series, I even called him PointBAM in the thread haha

If any org can make him look like KG, it’s the Heat, and yeah if he comes to 80% of KG he won’t drop below third in his position.

Hope they make it to the Finals just so we get a West East big man battle.

Then how are you coming to the conclusion that Siakam's defense is similar to Sabonis?

Goberts series against Denver was arguably better than any of Embiids. I think utah had a +3.4 net rating when Gobert and Jokic were both on the floor the series and Rudy was giving it to him for the first half of the series and dominating. Rudy was by far the 2nd best player on the floor in game 7 too which was like the only game of that series when both teams were playing anything resembling defense

Rudy was also the best player against Okc a few years ago outplaying Russ and George who were favored to win the series and had homecourt advantage

Embiid is a poor pick and roll and perimeter defender himself (much worse than Rudy there). He was getting carved up by us in the 1st round. Embiids conditioning sucks too and he's a ghost in 2nd halves. If the Warriors or rockets were in his conference Embiid would've looked terrible too

Seems like Boston could really use Hayward right about now.

You're aware a banged up Embid literally led the league in plus minus after his 7 game loss to toronto? You know those guys who played 60 win basketball PLUS a top 5 player?

Rudy was also the best player against Okc a few years ago outplaying Russ and George who were favored to win the series and had homecourt advantage

Best player because he won, or best player because he was the best.

Neither gobert or embid are all that good at pick and roll, but we don't care, because of what they do at the rim. And pick and roll isn't making up for the fact that embid is both in the 98th percentile in scoring and the 97th percentiale in creation.

FFS, Embid just scored 30 ppg on 60% ts while stripped of his team's primary playmaker and with basically no spacing. Embid has led last playoffs in dpipm. Embid nearly knocked out last year's champs while sleepwalking. Gobert's great, he is not on embid's level. These sorts of conversations wouldn't be having if embid wasn't playing for philly.

It's Kyrie's fault, obviously.
