Riley is the type to s&t herro and bam for Giannis tho bc Masai can easily acquire Giannis.
It guarantees a top 3 player and gets rid of players who will get big payday so its not all bad.

Pat Riley has set the heat up to become the next elite team in the NBA. Already a finals caliber team this year, next summer they will have an almost empty roster and they'll be able to add to the Butler/Herro/Bam trio.

Herro will be on $4 million on his rookie deal.
Bam will be an RFA but his cap hold will be only $12 million, so they can sign two max deals and then resign him after.
Butler is making $36 million.

Insane to think they could add Giannis /Oladipo to that trio. Or Giannis and just about any other of a ton of good FAs.

Even if they just land one max guy and resign a few of their current role players I think they're just in an incredible position to really leapfrog the rest of the East including Brooklyn and Boston.

You're overlooking that they need to re-sign Dragic, Crowder and Jones Jr this offseason. Plus they have Robinson and Nunn cap holds in 2021 too. In total they will have about $50m if they don't re-sign Dragic, Crowder, Jones Jr. Whatever they sign them for will eat into the cap.

They have some tough decisions to make in offseason. They likely can't re-sign Dragic if they want a max spot open for 2021.

They would lose a lot of depth. Both Dragic and Crowder are free agents after this season (Leonard too). Miami also have two future FRPs going to OKC IIRC. But yeah they could build around Butler, Bam, Herro, D Rob, Nunn. Iggy needs to be dumped though.

Honestly i'm not sure adding a max player is the only way to go. We have 2 young guys in Bam and Herro with tons of potential and room to grow. Bam is just exploring his offensive potential and if he adds a solid jumpshot + decent 3pt shot he would be unstoppable. Herro has shown he can be a quality playmaker and can only get better. Adding a max guy would only slow their progress down. Spo has let them make all the mistakes possible and trusted them to learn and it shows in this playoffs.

What i would do is add someone like Lowry/Jrue Holiday as a starting PG. Move Dragic back to the bench and keep him fresh for the playoffs. We are talking about a 34yo Dragic after all who has a record of injuries.
Beside a PG i would try to replace Olynyk with someone like Ibaka. Maybe package him to the Raptors with Nunn for a sign and trade. I think he's an expiring contract next season.
Resign Dragic to a 1 year 20m+ for the next season and a team friendly deal in 2021
Resign Crowder with the MLE
Resign Meyers Leonard to vet min
Draft a wing player with the 1st round pick
Let DJJ go, He will probably get a good offer elsewhere.

A lineup like this:
Lowry/Dragic/vet min
Robinson/Herro/1st round pick
Butler/Iggy/1st round pick
Crowder/Ibaka/KZ Okpala

I agree that someone will offer Derrick Jones a good deal and Miami should not match. As important as he is (esp the D), we also have Okpala and Silva (who I don't see on your list, btw)).

Plus Dragic is playing like an allstar for the Heat in the playoffs, averaging 22.2 ppg and shooting 40% from 3pt....either he walks to another team or the Heat re-sign an aging 34 year old player that is not going to be able to continue playing like this.
