Just for awareness' sake, Givony/Schmitz have Hinton going #58 in their mock right now. The Ringer doesn't have him in their top 50 big board. The Athletic has him at #68 on their big board. So if we do want him, we will almost certainly be able to get him.

Yeah. Hinton is a buy a second round pick using those “b”illions type guy.

His offensive game is rough around the edges. If he ever developed a smoother handle, he kind of becomes that Marcus Smart guy. I think Giannis would love playing with a guy who brings maniacal energy and effort every night after playing with this up and down crew.

Was thinking to myself that "being willing to spend money on the team" would fit perfectly with buying a 2nd rounder for this guy. Don't have to pay luxury tax on the pick, just a nice $1.5 million for a guy who fills a roster spot that looks like he could be a good Matisse Thybulle-like surprise (I know Thybulle had much better defensive chops and was a much more finished project, but he's the vibe I'm getting)

Xavier Tillman looks really promising to me. Only 6'8" but listed at 245 lbs with a 7'1" wingspan. Good ball-handler and passer for his size. Plays his heart out on both ends of the floor and is just one of those guys that makes all the hustle plays/does the little things. Racked up steals and blocks at Michigan State (though I don't think the shot blocking will translate personally). Just a talented all-around player really. I think there's a decent chance that we could fill the C role with some cheap vets (maybe even Robin) + Tillman + playing Giannis there sometimes and be totally fine with getting off Brook's contract.

Maybe it's just the Michigan State connection, but gives off Draymond vibes.

If I'm being extremely optimistic, there's definitely some Draymond/Horford in his game. Maybe more realistically a rich man's Kyle O'Quinn.

Derrick Favors.

Holler at Hammond and have him holler at Horst about Hinton.

Sold on Hinton as well. Buy a pick near the end of the 2nd round.

I don't think Hinton is someone I would draft. He's someone I'd monitor though for a future RoCo type contract.

Woodard is like a physical clone of Jabari, but with defense turned way up and with just the seeds of his offensive skillset.

To be fair, someone could slap together a pretty riveting
Jemerrio Jones highlight package from the 19-20 Herd season. Like Hinton, Jones is a phenomenal rebounder/motor at 6-5. Hinton seems like he has the potential to be way more of an offensive threat.

The problem with 2nd round picks is you have to use either cap space or an exemption to sign them, or your limited to a 2 year bare minimum deal, and you don't get their bird rights. So if you hit on one, you lose them.

Like LuessiT suggests, we should target him as an undrafted FA, and give him the 3 year partial guarantee deal.

As for Hinton, what a highlight tape. It made me go look at his statistical profile. Sure enough, he can hit the 3. So why only 10 ppg? Opportunities? No, it's because he only made 43% of his 2 point attempts. How does a player who shoots well enough to make 39% of his 3s, and dunks like that, only make 43% of his 2s?

Like Chuck says, he's Jemmareo Jones with a 3 ball. Interesting player, let's bring him in after the draft, 15th spot, 2 way, or develop him with the Herd.

In addition to Nate Hinton, I like Nathan Knight of William & Mary - also as an undrafted player to sign as a 2-way player and develop in the G League. 6'9 250, not real quick but very smooth and skilled. Get him with a personal trainer who can help him with his body, and he could be a nice backup big.

Tyrese Maxey, Nate Hinton, Tyler Bey, Xavier Tillman

Considering our draft range, Hinton is THA DAWG (COUGAR). He is a fiery competitor, rebounds and defends like a MF, can knock down shots solidly enough. Does not back down. Marcus Smart meets Keldon Johnson kinda vibes.

What a fun guy to watch. Definitely has an infectious energy out there

Am I crazy for getting a more athletic Marcus Smart vibes from Hinton? If he is even close to that, I'm taking him - though I admit I know next to nothing about him or this draft.

Never heard of this guy before, but watching his clip, I ran through a brick wall just to be a little bit like him.

I might be way off but Hinton has some similarities with DDV when he was up and about pre-covid, the idea of those two flying everywhere (in non Pat-ways) is exciting.

He reminds me of Jimmy Butler when he first got to Marquette. Shorter though obviously.

There has to be a reason why this Hinton kid is rated so lowly. Just seems odd. Of course, for all we know there may be some NBA teams who do have him graded higher than most of these sites/pundits.

Can he still withdraw from the draft?
