Billy Donovan knows hoops and I've not seen him eff up something fundamental.

Then, he actually designs things that make basketball sense--i.e. everybody box out so that Westbrook can rebound and go (his rebounding went up +3.5/game). ISOs for Durant fairly regularly, since that was his strongest trait and it was difficult to play off ball with Westbrook running around like a maniac full-time.

When somebody gets it going, he tells them to keep going until the other team stops them; none of Jimbo's 'go sit for 15 min straight' after you just scored 12 in the first quarter; then, he's always had good defensive teams going back to his Florida days. He's always liked having athletes and shooters on his team, so it's up for discussion how well the Bulls roster represents that, but he just knows ball and will not chain up our guys on O, nor make them chase PGs out to half-court on D all game. His championship Florida teams played probably the best individual and team defense that I've seen in the NCAA without being abject gamblers--which is why Horford and JoJo came to the NBA D-ready, even as rookies.

He probably has some negatives as well--he couldn't make Russ and Durant mesh, but not sure that's a real knock on him, given how stubborn of an energizer bunny Russ appears to be. Time will tell. I'm happy that we got a guy that genuinely knows ball and has a track record of being able to teach it to younger players.

I can't wait for his introductory press conference/zoom call to happen where he mentions wanting to coach Zach as a main reason for coming here and posters go nuts

Zach better get his act together. Very good player but he always acted up with Boylen, now that sht won’t fly anymore. They now have a coach who needs to be respected.

Wait what? Always acted up with Boylen? Did you even watch Bulls games or talking out of your ass?

There's a difference between showing frustration while on the bench than acting up... Zach is NOT that type of player.

Him and Boylen often butted heads. Jimbo was a clown though, Billy will have everyone’s respect from day 1

I'm open to trading for Paul or Westbrook if we can get one of them for not too much. I'd be willing to give up pretty much anything other than Carter, Lauri, Zach, White and #4.

Billy didn’t come here to lose.

AK delivering. Winning will happen next season.

Yes, development was emphasized by AK.

"We are very pleased to welcome Billy and his family to the Chicago Bulls. The success that he has sustained over the course of his coaching career puts him on a different level," said Chicago Bulls Executive Vice President – Basketball Operations Arturas Karnisovas. "We feel his ability to help his players reach their potential, both individually and collectively, will mesh well with our roster. Whether as a player or as a coach, he has won everywhere his career has taken him, and we hope that will continue here in Chicago."

Suddenly we have someone who is willing to take swings. It genuinely feels like we're trying to proactively win, rather than just trying to be solid.

We really are in a new era ladies and gents!

In the past we would never have signed the respected experienced coach that costs money.

What's next, no more free roster spots to Bartelstein clients?!

Acted up...Boylen was a moron who the entire team nearly had to mutiny on after he 2nd day on the job.

Surprising hire tbh. Not bad but just surprising. Anyone have any insight as to why Donovan left OKC? He just had an amazing year and they have arguably a brighter future than the Bulls given all the picks they have coming down the pipeline. I found him leaving to begin with a little confusing.

Ladies & Gentlemen.

We have found the Boylen burner account.

Rerisen, the Gar Forman regime has been fully sacrificed. You can come back now.

didn't OKC have the #1 clutch scoring team in the NBA? they also closed games with three guard lineups.

A sign of things to come? (the three guards part)

No, this means that Donovan likes the roster and the vision of AK and he wants to use the #4 pick to add to the young nucleus and help develop him into a franchise cornerstone.

Exactly. Westbrook is pretty much toast as far as being a positive impact player.
