While putting up those stats you can’t be a bad defender on top of that. His basketball IQ is extremely low as well. I don’t think Billy Donavan is going to put up with that.

Had a feeling you were going to bring up Sato again.

Love the Bulls hiring Billy D!

AD to the Bulls is a little more likely after this hiring.

A good, solid hire: a coach who has proven he is up to the task.

An up and coming assistant would have had that shiny new thing -factor, but would also have been an unknown. I think Donovan fits well with the now of the Bulls.

I'm interested again.
From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

I'm happy but not too hyped about it. It's great that we finally hire a veteran head coach. Let's see what they do next. I'm betting this is a sign that we'll be trying to make the playoffs next season to look good for '21 FAs. Could be a BKN scenario if it works out well.

Wow, I'd never would have thought Donovan would be interested. Apparently AK has a lot of charisma around him and can connect greatly with professionals in the league. Call me impressed.

I’m on London time which explains my delayed response. I’m ecstatic with Donovan’s hire. For me he was the marquee name available and WE got him!!

This is a real statement made by AK and this franchise. I can see major changes being made to this roster but not sure if that will be the season after next. Will be so exciting to see our current roster ( plus pick 4 ) play under an established successful coach.

Finally feel like we’re heading back to respectability.

Billy has coached Westbrook - and now he has the Coke Lite version on his roster. That's good, because Donovan knows how a player like that can destroy a team's cohesion.

Obviously can't be talking about LaVine given outside of being athletic they couldn't be more different.

I'll never stop chuckling at the myth that literally has no source or truth to it about LaVine being some egomaniac.

I was thinking more along the lines of "inefficient volume scorer, likes to pound/stop the ball". But you're right, at his best Westbrook was a borderline NBA superstar, while Zach isn't even an All-Star. Their negative tendencies are really similar though.

Whatever your opinion of this roster you have, this is exciting. We finally have the groundwork for success moving forward. Very happy with Donovan's signing - he's not perfect, but he's a perfectly capable NBA head coach who is well liked and respected.

Bring on next season!

Zach wasn't inefficient nor does he stop the ball, he's shown to be a willingly passer but you seem hellbent on ignoring it.

I'm willing to bet that you're one of the people that blame Lauri regressing and being awful on LaVine right?

I'm happy with it. Not super excited as some seem to be (to be fair, I don't really know if one of the candidates would have me super excited right now), but definitely happy. He's a competent head coach and knows what he's doing...this organization needed that badly for years now. He's also not Jim Boylen, which is huge.

Donovan might not be the best coach overall out there, but he might be one of the best coaches for a rebuilding young team.

A coach with experience, with some nice (although not over the top) results in his seasons, managed to keep a team interesting even when they lost every star. Let's see if it works.

It is just the second time in a while (since the 80s) we don't get a rookie coach, if I'm not mistaken (ok, rookies as coaches not as assistant coaches... although those worked pretty fine for us the majority of the times). I like that we are trying some new things and I hope that this will be a turnaround in our franchise.

Great hire, I'm very pleased and quite frankly surprised because of what many of said, it's been a long long time since we have hired an established head coach and a high quality one at that.

Despite his disappointments in the playoffs, he is a really good coach and he is still a very young coach all things considering. The biggest thing for me is that he usually gets the most of out his young players, and above all else, we are in desperate need of a respected coach who can get the most out of our extremely young roster and foster a winning culture.

He may not bring us to a championship, but if he can lead us into the direction of the playoffs and make a star out of one or two of our players on the roster or a rookie, then he would have been well worth the hire. He is respected enough that he may even be one of the reasons a star player looks to us in the future.

Great hire!! What a refreshing off season this has been. Keep going!
Why so serious?

Didn't expect this one. When he became available, I immediately thought the Sixers or the Pacers would get him since those are better teams. But it's good to see an experienced coach like him take on the challenge of the Bulls. I like that his offense is flexible based on personnel.

WTF. Dont know how to feel about this. Nor how Bulls actually did it. I know he is viewed as great coach today but till 2 years ago people claimed he should go back to college along with Hoiberg.

But let's go. Good news.

What hasn't been mentioned yet, and may become important down the road is his college experience and it's importance with the elimination of the one and done rule. Rookies are likely to be even more raw than before. A guy who had taught fundamentals to college kids will be helpful.

Separately, he coached Horford in college. Maybe he can help WC get better. Too.

I thought Unseld had it in the bag, this is really a shocking hire that goes totally against type for Reinsdorf. This is like if the White Sox hired Dusty Baker or something.
