For me I want the best shooter/defender combo in the draft, and that is Nesmith. Though S Bey isn't far behind.

Nesmith for me..

I was going back and forth between these two. Both guys look like good 3 & D types. Reading about Nesmith I get a contradictory vibe about his IQ and athleticism, plus he has iffy foul efficiency, really TO prone for someone known as something as a spot up shooter, shot really well this season...but for one season against non-conference opponents.

Bey is coming from a good program, I like his freshman year production, good A/TO ratio, and he just sounds like the guy who maximizes his potential even though he doesn't have ideal tools to work with. I went and read his Wikipedia page; he was 5'9 as a freshman in high school, 6'1 as a sophomore, he got Nova's attention early on, almost by accident b/c he went to the same HS as Josh Hart. Ever since then, from what I gather, he's been growing into his new body and consistently improving his game.

I like his trajectory and in theory, favor his intangibles over Nesmith's shooting stroke.

I want and hope everyone can do a runoff vote using these 5 players..

Just pick one.. If these 5 players were available and we can only draft 1.. who is your finally pick as of now at 14

Seddiq Bey

Kira Lewis jr

Patrick Williams

Precious Achiuwa

Aaron Nesmith

Precious Achiuwa. Good size, athletic, good handle and defense. Perfect fit for the Celtics current roster.

he would be in my top 5 in the whole draft IF he proves he can shoot, and I mean really shoot.. as of now he looks like a bit of a shooting project..

Level of Competition
Paul Reed (Big East)

Don't love anyone who will likley be there at 14, we need to trade up or out of the spot unless someone takes a big drop, if Jalen smith is really going to be gone by 16 or 17 I guess him, but not in love with anyone there, I would bundle all 3 to move up if possible.

Nesmith seems like the best rotation player, if Gordo drops out he fills in as a 3 and D wing,

1. Nesmith, really good shooter, ready made nba skill, solid size...small chance to become a star but possible
2. Precious, great athlete and elite rebounding rate, can 7'2 wingspan, but a bad shooter, same age as Azabukie even though he has been around forever. Not really a true freshman not clear if he can ever be an average 3 point shooter as he shot 59% from the line
of those 5, could be an eventual Thies replacement given his speed size and switchability averaged a combined 3 blocks/steals per game, that combo tends to be predictive of NBA success and that is a really good number for it. He is a switchable modern big, the issue will be scoring.

Lewis is only 170lbs he will get murdered by bigger players on switches. Bey is not athletic enough to be a really good perimeter defender in the nba, Williams is a good project....for another team not so close to winning. I like Jalen smith more then those 3, not sure either Nesmith or Anchiwa will be available at 14.

Truth is I also go back and forth with these . I don't believe Boston can go wrong with either 1. But I want more than anything is a true knock down shoota. With Jason Tatum Kemba and even jn Brown, teams will start doubling up and I want the most make you pay type player for when defenses do that . The fact that both can play solid defense is also a must.

Chances all both players will not be there so if either one of those to fall to 14 that's who I would prefer, but since I had to vote I chose Nesmith..

FT percentage is a better indicator of NBA shooting then 3 point percentage Bey Career FT% 72.8 along with 1.2 blocks/steals vs Aaron Nesmith Carrer ft% 82.5 2.3 blocks/steals Nesmith looks like the better prospect to me though his lack of assists is disturbing.

This might or might not make good sense in theory, but it doesn't tend to check out IMO. Great three point shooters are often also good or great free throw shooters, but it doesn't work that well the other way around.

I pointed out just the other day, as freshmen in college, Paul Pierce shot 61%, Steve Kerr shot 69%, Jason Richardson shot 55%, Jason Kapono shot 68%, Robert Horry shot 64%, Reggie Miller shot 64%. Joe Harris shot 64% as a senior. Oh, and Ray Allen, as a sophomore, shot 72.7% from the line, a tiny bit lower than Bey's percentage the past two years. I'm sure the list goes on a lot longer.

By comparison, Marvin Williams, Francisco Garcia, Ben McLemore, Robbie Hummel, Salim Stoudamire, Melo Trimble, and hundreds of other fringe prospects and guys you never heard of shot better than 85%. Shammond Williams shot 91%.

Hitting a free throw is like hitting a shot in practice, but come game time, there is much more going on. There are added mental components and even physical components.

I'll take Kira, but if they take Saddiq it would be fun for all the ways people could misspell his name.

I want to see what Stevens can get out of a high upside ballhandler. Celtics haven't had someone this fast since Marcus Banks probably.

Cole Anthony is better, but if he's off the board I'll take Kira Lewis.

Kira makes the most sense there imo.

Kids got everything you want in a PG, defense, speed, size, shooting ability.

add to that there is most likely going to be a plethora of SG/SF 3d types around at both 26 and 30.

(Tyler Bey, McDaniels, Ramsey, Bolmaro, Bane)

Of course this is assuming Danny doesnt look to move up. I honestly could see him loving someone like Haliburton as well. And perhaps dangling of Romeo+ a pick or 2 could entice Detroit, Cleveland, Washington or Knicks to move down should he still be there.

If Ainge trades Langford and a pick to move up like a few spots he's braindead. Lewis looks amazing, only concern would be that he's pretty frail and would end up being a liability in a playoff series like every other small-ish guard. He has the height and wingspan you want, though. Saddiq Bey would be a safer bet, but Lewis has a way, way higher ceiling.

I really like the middle of draft so don't really see any reason to move up when it's all the same level of player from 1-15. And to give up a high-upside player like Langford? Nah. I would hate to have the first pick in this draft. No one wants it and the guy taken at 15th is likely to be just as good while making 6-8 mil less per season.

Depends on how high you are on Romeo and how high you can get up in the draft with trading him.
He gets you into the 6-10 range (adding #26 and #30) and you keep 14 then IMO its a no brainer not to do it.

We are talking getting into the Hayes, Halliburton, Okkoro, Toppin, a potential Wiseman if he drops some.

And still get Bey at 14

Langford would go like top-3 in this draft. They are very high on him.

Good, so if he is top 3 we can trade him for Wiseman?

I'd like to see someone like Khalil Whitney with that 47th pick, or signed as an UDFA if they think he'd get there. Probably a guy we'd be looking at around 20-30 if he just took the year off like Bazley/Hartenstein/Robinston recently. Instead he went to college and had a terrible 230 minutes spread across 3 months and goes from a potential lottery pick (if he played well) to maybe going undrafted. If they're going to use all these picks, give me at least a couple freak athlete, high motor 1% lottery tickets.

Bey for me in the runoff. Bey's defensive skills at his size push him over the top for me.
If we end up with Lewis or any other PG, fine. I'm out on trying to guess which is best.

This. All of this.

There's nobody that I like from 5-8 much more than the guys who would be available at 14 save 2 prospects: Hayes and Ball. Short of us getting one of them, I'm good with waiting to see what falls to us at 14.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

I personally think Detroit is open to trading their pick if they aren't sold on Killian hayes or the Knicks if they can't trade up, and I'm a big believer in Nesmith. How does Romeo, #14 and #30 plus semi sound (my eyes overpay but worth for high-end bench player or solid rotation to fill Gordon's role with the passing falling to tatum)

I'm having a hard time gauging Tyrell Terry as a pro.

He is such a lethal shooter. That skill seems like it will 100% transfer.

But what will he be in half court sets? Will he be able to get by his man? Will he develop a midrange game and be able to finish through contact?

I'm just not sure.
