The crazy thing is Font wasn't always absolute garbage, but this year has just been terrible for him.

Atkins says Blue Jays' organizational changes a result of pandemic hardship - Sportsnet.ca
TORONTO – Ross Atkins says restructuring the Toronto Blue Jays’ five special assistant positions, including one held by Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar, is a by-product of financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and that all are welcome to remain at a lower pay rate.
Alomar, his father Sandy, fellow Hall of Famer Tim Raines, Pat Hentgen and Paul Quantrill were all impacted by wider organizational changes that hit Thursday hours before the club clinched a post-season berth.
All five performed a variety of tasks for the Blue Jays, from attending events in the community to helping groom young players in the farm system. Their full-time positions were eliminated and the club is said to have offered them part-time spots instead.
Where things stand with them wasn’t immediately clear, although Atkins called them “incredible,” and praised “the impact and influence they’ve had long before I was here on so many different players, and obviously on the fan base and just to this organization, what they’ve meant, I think the world of all of them.”
“Really, the way that we view it is they’re helping us transition through a pandemic and through a financial hardship and through a minor-league restructure,” he continued. “We would love to have them here, to continue to be here. They will be compensated very differently. They will always be welcome. And our hope is that we look up a year from now or maybe two years from now, and they’re back into similar, if not similar, even more significant roles with us.”
All five have been with the organization for years, with Alomar among the franchise’s most recognizable figures and Hentgen part of the organizational fibre. Other clubs in the past have asked about Hentgen’s availability but he was never interested, fully committing his heart to the Blue Jays.
“A thousand per cent,” said one scout from a rival club. “All the players love him.”
The draft was reduced to only five rounds this year and industry speculation is that next year’s draft will be pushed back to July and perhaps reduced to 20 rounds from the usual 40.

Who's the better match up? Chicago or Tampa Bay?

Blue Jays keeping 'options open' for pitching alignment as playoffs loom - Sportsnet.ca
Combined with the sudden shift on Shoemaker, it made you wonder if something is up with Ryu.
Is something up with Ryu?
“He’s fine,” replied Montoyo. “He’s fine. He is. I’m just keeping my options open. I haven’t said he’s not going to start the first game. He’s fine. He really is. I swear.”
Now, if you’re confused, we feel you.
This shouldn’t really be that complicated, since if your best dude is fine and on turn, you’d think he’d be the obvious pick for the first game of a playoff series.
A rethink of Game 2, which Taijuan Walker is on turn for, is more understandable given his extreme splits – righties have a .515 OPS against him while lefties have hit him an .869 clip – and that the Rays lineup is lefty laden.
Pairing Shoemaker with lefty Robbie Ray – who has limited left-handed batters to a .661 OPS versus 1.012 against righties – offers an intriguing alternative, one that would force the Rays to surrender platoon advantage for at least a portion of the contest. Coincidentally or not, both threw bullpens Saturday on what would be the normal side day for a Tuesday start.
And if they’re going to go down that road anyway, why not then push Ryu back a day for some extra rest so they’re putting everyone in the best position to succeed. Atkins said nothing is finalized since the Blue Jays are thinking of “how we can maximize and optimize (pitching) over the course of, obviously, the first two games, but also factoring in that there might be a third.”

Sensible decision considering Walker's enormous splits this year. It makes no difference whether Ryu pitches in game 1 or 2 and they'll surely follow Shoemaker with Ray after three innings or so (which should force Cash to make a whole bunch of moves early in Game 1 and take out his LHBs in response to get the platoon advantage and if he doesn't...even better).
One flew east, one flew west, one flew over the cuckoo’s nest.

I kind of thought it made logical sense as well.
Eager to see the rest of the roster though.

I feel like if this playoff series had happened in Buffalo instead of the **** Trop, we probably would've stolen a game at least lol.
With covid levels coming back up, it's looking highly unlikely that things will be stable enough in a few months for the team to start shuttling back and forth between borders. So it looks like Buffalo will be our home again next season.

I bet you we will. Especially since they've been selling 2021 Season Tickets, etc. They need the money badly.

Oh I'm sure the team wants to. Just like they wanted to play in Toronto this season.
It's just a matter of getting permission from the feds. I doubt they're gonna agree to the repeated border crossings.

People are doing it all the time for 'essential' work. Hell, you can come into Canada as a tourist as long as you can pay for a flight. They aren't stopping anything.
