Great post about Mason Jones, Nate Hinton and Malachi Flynn.

Still prefer to trade down and work 2 trades to land 2 picks between #8-#20.

Target 2 prospects in Kira Lewis Jr, Poku, Vassell, Hali, Terry, maybe Nesmith, Anthony versus taking one at #4.

Me too, but I just don't see it happening. Not only I don't see the the right partners to do so, we have 2 teams ahead of us (GSW and MIN) who would gladly trade down as well. What I could see happening is trading some or all of Markkanen (to PHX at 10? Boston at 14?), Young and Sato (to the Blazers at 16?) for a pick.

Moving Otto makes more sense. It will take some work but possible through some creative trades.

I agree. I just have this feeling that we're gonna trade him for a REALLY bad contract attached to more assets.

I don't see AK doing that. He even said that landing #4 shortens the board. Meaning it puts you in a position to land a likely top 2-3 player on your board rather than #4-6.

Got 2 of my sleepers and Malachi whom I wouldn't be surprised if he turned a few heads..

Yeah, Flynn was already on my radar. I honestly would have to watch more of Jones and Hinton to have an opinion.

What's the take on Okongwu? Better prospect than Wendell?

No. People on here would say so because they underrate their players and are low on Carter. Wendell Carter’s ceiling is higher than Okongwu. Carter on this board is underrated big time. Injuries have a lot to do with it. Carter I think is going to have a monster year this year. Dude almost is averaging a double double already while being great on defense as 20 year old. He had some big games vs some of the games best bigs such as Jokic and Dummond. His defense is underrated on this board. His ability to cover 2 guys in space while the guard recovers in pnr situations is speacial. He also grab some of the toughest boards I’ve seen. He is a good rim protector as well. I think he’s going to shine as he get more pick n pop options from the midrange. I think Okongwu is a better athlete but Carter is not a bad athlete like people make him out to be in here. Carter is not a bad perimeter defender either. He shown that he can do an adequate job of moving his feet. Carter is definitely the passer.

I wanted to see something new but think the commentary is overhauled. He didn't move away from AD, he just didn't follow him as he cleared out and James barrelled in to the same space. His defense of Harden wasn't special - he gave up a lot of space at the 3 and basically just dropped back. Young got him to jump with the fake but didn't take advantage of it by either driving or moving laterally away from where Carter was landing.

Nothing all that special in those clips.

That’s what a big is supposed to do on a player like Harden. No big is going to play up close on harden, hell even some guards don’t play up close on Harden. But Carter squares him up and stayed in front of Harden with out fouling. That’s impressive for a big since a lot of guards can’t do that. There’s a highlight video of Harden putting Sato on skates nearly breaking his ankles and making him fall. So for a center to move laterally like that is very good. Also on that help defense video it shows how much ground Carter covers. He guarded 4 players all in one possession even containing speedy Kemba Walker for about 4 slides almost forcing him out of bounds than recovering to back to the rolling big man. That is impressive stuff that most bigs Carter’s age just don’t do. You have some shot blocking big man like your Gaffords, Mitchell Robinson’s, and Jared Allen’s but Wendell Carter’s defensive IQ and ability to guard 2 players in space is what separates Carter from those guys. It’s easy to miss because of alot of those things aren’t sexy and goes unnoticed by the casual fan. But you best believe that players and coaches understand those things.

That's just good defensive instincts and play by WCJ. He did what he was supposed to do in those clips.
