Greatest Championships ever won

There has been a lot of talk about Lebron being the GOAT after yesterday's win over the Nuggets so I decided that a thread was needed to give credit to the great players who have won rings on much worse teams than Lebron. This thread is necessary to not only give credit where it is due but to properly rank guys like Lebron/Durant who coasted to rings because of their manufactured super teams.

I will start the list off by adding some recent champions who won with very little support

1. Dallas Dirk's ring in 2011 over one the most stacked super team's in NBA history containing Lebron/Wade/Bosh (6 games)
2. Wade's ring with the Heat in 2006
3. Kawhi's ring with the Raptors in 2019

Keep adding to the list so that we can get a true assessment of where guys like Lebron/Durant truly rank. You will notice that all three rings in the current list were won by a superstars who had with very little support. Please consider this when adding to the list.

2011....not just the way with beating stacked teams while Dirk had just former Allstars way beyond their prime, also the whole loyalty storyline.

Dirk stayed loyal, took a paycut in 2010...Cuban stayed loyal and didnt trade Dirk for Kobe in 2007 (any other GM pulls the trigger).

Cant get better than that. I take this one ring other all the multiple Heatles or Warriors one.

Yeah single-handidly...the 27/4/4 guy with 41% from dowtown was no help at all so that the 3rd best RS team won the title

That's definitely my #1 championship. Beating Lebron after the decision was the most satisfying thing for any fan out there.

Dirk in 2011 was the best thing I’ve seen from a player in 20+ years of watching basketball. Not much else compared there, and even then, his defensive cast was amazing. Duncan in 2003 was also incredible as far as little offensive help.

I'll nominate the 94 Rockets. That was one of the greatest carry jobs ever. Hakeem put up 28/11/4 in the playoffs. The next highest scorer was Vernon Maxwell at 13.8ppg. It was 100% a team of role players around Hakeem. The Rockets were down 3-2 in the finals before they came back.

- Only team in NBA history to win a championship without a single lottery pick on the roster. Will likely never happen again.

- First team to win the Larry O'B outside the US.

- Leonard and Siakam tie Jordan and Pippen for 1,187 points, tied for the 2nd highest sheer point producing duo in NBA playoff history.

- Trailed in 3/4 series leading up to the final.

- Knocked off the back to back defending champions winning all 3 games on their home floor.

2019 Raptors will always be one of the most historically significant championships ever won in the NBA...even though US media tries to pretend it never happened lmfao.

Put a criteria and then we'll put the ones on the list that should be there. But we will also be looking for failures under the same circumstances. So... be careful because you can be biased on your criteria to make LBJ look bad, but you might make your idols look bad too.

Lol at Kawih not having help. Raptors lost in 7 to the Celtics and actually had a better RS than last year. He just had a great coach, great playmaker in Lowry and a front court with absolute lock down defense with him (he has credit also for that great defense).

Raptors team is far from "not having help".

Washed up 33 year old Shaq finished 2nd in MVP voting and was first team All-NBA that year (Wade was second team FYI).

Shaq was first-team all-NBA that season and was second in MVP voting the previous season.

To answer the OP's inquiry, the 2016 title is arguably the greatest ever won. It's certainly in the discussion, because of both the caliber of the eventual champion's opponent and the highly-improbable manner in which they won. Whomever the leader of that team was, he must be a pretty special talent.

2014 was pretty amazing, too, given the depth and world-class coaching the Spurs enjoyed; what they did the following season demonstrates what a great team they were, so whomever beat them definitely earned their title, and whomever the leader of that team was must be a pretty great player, just like the guy from the 2016 one, whomever he is.

I think it's great that this thread will draw attention to those two amazing championships and whomever the Finals MVPs were for them. Good job, OP!

You dont have to be a fan to properly rate people. In no world is Kobe better then Lebron. For example I hate the Spurs, nothhing but respect for that franchise though and Tim Duncan is highly underrated.

I don't think anything stands up to the 2011 Mavs title. A solid 48 win Portland team in the first round, the back to back champion Lakers in the second, KD/Westbrook/Harden/Ibaka OKC in the WCF and Heatles in the Finals.

While the 94 Rockets run is great because of Hakeem's heroics, I think the 95 title is even more impressive. Because of injuries in the regular season they came in as the 6th seed and went through the Malone/Stockton Jazz, Barkley/KJ Suns, the Spurs with MVP David Robinson and the Shaq/Penny Magic.
