Idk what you guys see in Mitch. He just doesn't have "IT". I guess physical talent but the mental is definitely not there for an nfl caliber QB. That's REALLY hard to learn.

I agree. He's like a deer in the headlights all the time. He's got no swag.
I root for him though, he seems like a good kid. Hopefully he can learn from the situation.

Just not a leader of men.

The deer in headlights look is expected for rookies getting up to nfl game speed but for a 4th year player. Nah man.
He might be a good guy but there are a lot of good guys in the world. Very few are deserving of being a nfl qb

Meh, I still have some hope for Mitch. Even if it isn’t in Chicago. And who knows, this could be just the experience that he needs. Sit back and watch the way the offense is supposed to run and learn.
I doubt it. Nick Mullens, an undrafted FA picked up by the Niners, threw for almost 350 yards today and put up 36 points against the Giants, while missing his best receiver, his best RB, and George Kittle. Mitch managed 190 yards against that defense, and just 17 points.

And he never has been. He didn't even start his first two years of college, right? Only one had season as a starter, and that was at UNC, not exactly known for being a football powerhouse. So he's never proven he can do the job on a big stage or for a big program.

And I wouldn't want Bortles as my main backup either. I said Trubisky wasn't even good enough to be a second stringer. I didn't say he was the worst qb in the league, although he's probably close.

I'd actually be happy if he stayed to be our backup. Call me crazy.

Re: OT Bears 2019/20 season
Just enjoy the comeback.
Rivers is a statue and MACK and Co seemed to dominate the LOS today more than any game this season. Maybe Indy can run it on us but there is a competent QB back there now for us.
To make the wrong QB choice but still be 3-0 is great. Running game looks great, defense did what they needed to today annnnnd Foles is a stud when he's on. Keep stacking wins.
Sucks about Tarik, that looked like an ACL. Patterson/Montgomery isn't enough and Nall isn't it. Pace needs to find a practice squad player (and it better not be that Myzell guy).

Herbert did something similar last week. I’m always skeptical of those types of games because teams gameplan for starters...not back ups. Hence the reason why I’m interested in seeing how next week goes for us.
The one thing that I learned about Mitch today is that his deep ball is his kryptonite. When teams dare him to use it, he just hasn’t been able to make them pay. That (in turn) makes it much easier to pick him apart. If he can ever get better at that, it’d make life so much easier for him.

bears are 3-0 and still perhaps underdogs to make the playoffs. rams lost, though. and eagles only managed a tie at home vs the bengals. they're 0-2-1 and in really bad shape. let's see if the cards can stay undefeated by knocking off the sad lions

He had it moving two years ago against Miami/Tampa but lost it.
This season his mid range passing felt better but no touch on his deep ball.
FOLES TORE UP the Pats in the Super Bowl with his deep ball.

or was it a brilliant plan to squeak by as long as possible w/ mitch and hand things over to an acclimated foles just in the NICK of time?
does anyone still believe the story that mitch legitimately beat out foles in training camp? that foles pushed him to the next level?

Although the Bears may have dominated the LOS, ATL actually averaged 5.8/yards per rushing attempt today, for 144 yards. Which makes their decision not to run the ball more late in the game even more questionable.

Re: OT Bears 2019/20 season
Well the Bears really clamped down on their receivers as the game wore on. Busted up the pocket too. They prob felt trying to burn some clock while ahead was better than turnovers

The hope is that things clicked for Mitch, it seems it didn't and they moved on quickly. They knew what they had with Foles which is why they traded for him. Doug needs to eat his crow on that one.
No need to watch him struggle, let him use this as a growing experience hopefully and if he has to enter a game again this season hopefully he can play loose and better. The NFL is a weird league but it appears that the QB room here is a good one.

doug and i had the same position on the foles trade, which remains a quite reasonable one: paying 2 QBs rather than gamble on trubisky and use the foles money (and the draft pick) to otherwise improve the roster reduces the already long odds of actually contending. the bears absolutely do NOT look like a legit contender right now regardless of who the QB is
there's no reason to eat crow because nobody predicted that trubisky actually WOULD significantly improve. betting on trubisky would have been nothing more than a calculated gamble that was likely to fail but had a bit more upside
