Oh man, DK Metcalf of SEA just had the ball knocked out of his hands when he slowed down before getting into the end zone on a long bomb from Russell Wilson. Touchback, DAL ball.

I don't think Mitch looked all that bad through 2.5 games. PFF grades agreed, and they are usually love to crap all over Mitch. He didn't look good though. I thought benching him was ballsy. But it turned out to be the right call!
He's definitely decent enough to stick around as a backup, and I'm happy that we'll have him as a backup the rest of the season. He won't be out of the league after this season either. He's probably a 30-40 range QB in the league.

Rivers is a statue and MACK and Co seemed to dominate the LOS today more than any game this season. Maybe Indy can run it on us but there is a competent QB back there now for us.
To make the wrong QB choice but still be 3-0 is great. Running game looks great, defense did what they needed to today annnnnd Foles is a stud when he's on. Keep stacking wins.
Sucks about Tarik, that looked like an ACL. Patterson/Montgomery isn't enough and Nall isn't it. Pace needs to find a practice squad player (and it better not be that Myzell guy).
Although the Bears may have dominated the LOS, ATL actually averaged 5.8/yards per rushing attempt today, for 144 yards. Which makes their decision not to run the ball more late in the game even more questionable.
You're not wrong, but my point in the first half was that Atlanta CLEARLY is not *that* confident in their running game to close out the game. They've been known for blowing big leads and look at what they did, they blew a big lead.
Onto Indy.

Metcalf is just hoping they don't lose by a TD now.

He's been better but Foles is light years better than Chase and there's more pressure this year. I'm rooting for Mitch but I'm glad we're not stuck with him if he is in fact a bust. Look at the contracts that Kirk Cousins/Goff/Wentz got just to suck.
If Foles can be our floor without huge cash, we're better off than locking into one of those kinda guys longterm and try again in FA (Rodgers) or the draft.

I don't think Mitch played well, and I also thought it was ballsy to bench him.
It worked, but I don't think Foles actually played all that well either. He ultimately did enough to win, but man did Atlanta's defense just totally implode when he was in the game. Dropped interceptions, missed tackles leading to Robinon's 30 yards after the catch for a score, etc...
Not to say Mitch would have done the same thing if he was in there and got us to the win, but neither QB was particularly inspiring. On the other hand, neither was that bad either.

Unfortunately, you don't win much in the NFL by being "not all that bad". Of course, he did lead them to a 2-0 lead, but the competition was terrible. He was down 26-10 against ATL.
He may have graded out ok because he hasn't been asked to do much- they kept the play calling simple and didn't have him make a lot of difficult throws. That's just not a recipe for success in the NFL, unless you have a top defense, and even then, we saw what happened in Mitch's first year, when we did have a great defense- you rarely beat the really good teams playing that way.
I think it would have been a terrible decision to not have signed Foles, and instead use that money to fill 2-3 other holes. Without a good QB, you don't have a chance in the NFL. At least with Foles, we have a chance to win games now against good teams. It may not work out that way, but it was a gamble they had to take.

Putting up 20 points in the fourth quarter for a comeback win was plenty inspiring....

Re: OT Bears 2019/20 season
I've consistently defended Trubisky. Though QB is the most important position, it's still the ultimate team game and too often, Trubisky just wasn't surrounded with quality blockers, tight ends and receivers.
Today, Foles clearly made a difference and won the job going forward. The biggest difference to me was that, had the Bears lost, I would have found myself defending Foles for throwing great passes for TDs that got overturned. Instead, Foles just went out and threw some more that weren't overturned.
I still don't know how good the Bears are, but I'm diggin' 3-0.

Re: OT Bears 2019/20 season
Game is definitely more vertical with Foles. Keep going back to Nagy. He’s gotta be able to use his entire playbook. With Mitch, he can’t do that Not to say Nagy’s scheme is like Bruce Arians. But you need the longer pass to be able to run the underneath stuff too. The Falcons gradually defended the run and devalued the short yardage game for the Bears with a lead. One INT later, Foles came in.

Still felt like mitch triBENCHsky was struggling to read the zone. It should be Foles job from here on out. Pace is going to have to come to grips with tribs likely never becoming what he expected when he drafted him. Although tribenchsky was 2-0 the writings were on the wall that tougher competition was going to expose him.

Very clever.
Here's the thing. If the Bears make the playoffs this season, Pace and Nagy will be praised, and deservedly so. If they end up 8-8 agàin, not so muçh. Pretty simple.

Everything is seen through the lens of Patrick Mahomes and Watson. Praise for making the playoffs is faint. Victory laps for this situation is a little much

All I gotta say....
Foles magic is real
Foles magic not only covers his play-but the decline in the other team-as Foles magic actually sucks the will out of other teams

Re: OT Bears 2019/20 season
Not convinced about anything other than Mitch needs to gain confidence in his abilities. Can't force that confidence in, but can definitely force it out. I think we need to stick with Mitch unless Foles shows he's routinely completely better.
TLDR: Current Pulse Readings (9/2/22)

UCLA Basketball:
UCLA Football: Chip Kelly magic time
Cubs: Uh, 2016
Blackhawks: Uh, 2015
Bears: Poor Justin Fields
FC Barcelona: Economic levers

the difference is, Foles didn't play like crap for the first 3 quarters like Trubisky did.

This is true, but he did get off to a fairly shaky start (started like 9/21 or something)
I don't really care about the QB battle, whatever it takes to win, but just trying to be impartial. Go Bears.

Were you inspired by Trubisky against the Lions?
I'm glad we got the win, and am more confident in Foles than Trubisky, but are you telling me after watching Nick Foles there that you thought he was a great QB?
