Shout out to Pax. These are his words of wisdom in 2016.

Here’s how I feel about the whole leadership thing: When you’re talking too much about leadership you’re probably not getting what you need from the team leaders," Paxson said. "I played with the greatest player in the game (Michael Jordan) and you didn’t hear him talking about leadership. You heard him going out and showing leadership and showing that he was a winning player. I don’t think any of our guys need to talk about that anymore, about leadership. I think they need to show it.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

The lesson from this is, when you find a star player that wants to be here and be the man whilst being built around...shut up and pay the man and actually build around him.

They should ask MR or Paxson if he steps out of his hiding.

Gar might get a job though as a scout but obviously not as a GM. He is the one who found Jimmy.

Hoiberg should not or will not get a HC job but he swindled enough money from. the Reinsdorfs to not need another NBA job.

It was a disaster before it happened and kudos to MR for finally getting rid of these guys to stop.the bleeding.

He is a delusional, stuck in the past guy. He measured everything with Jordan who was a once in a century talent and finding stupid reasons to measure everyone.

I know it's not an NBA job, but Hoiberg has himself a fat 7 year deal from Nebraska.

Gar on the other hand, I hope he saved his money. Not only has he not been good inna long time, but I'm guessing his reputation around the league is the Mark Jackson of front office guys

What about that time we tried to build a team to clog the interior as much as possible, were too old for defense, and then acquired Cam Payne at the deadline?

The 16-17 Bulls were the anti 19-20 NBA Finalist Heat lmao. Instead of surrounding Butler with shooters, GarPax played him next to Rondo, Wade, Taj, and RoLo  :D :) :-? :nonono:

And then they doubled down by sending McDermott, Taj, AND a 2nd round pick for Joffrey Lauvergne, Anthony Morrow, and Cam Payne because they identified him to be the PG of the future.

Wow, they were so so bad at their jobs.

This is probably as far as he goes without a genuine #1 or #2 as his side kick.

It’s too bad that AK was not around when Jimmy Butler, Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Luol Deng were with the Bulls...Things would’ve been different.

We were trying to get younger and more athletic too! Hahaha.

Just to play devil's advocate, would I be wrong to say that Jimmy has improved as a leader? He's already been the best player on 3 teams before signing with the Heat, 2 of those were highly talented and had high expectations and all of those he left on bad terms. His reputation as a leader was shot, fair or not.

Some thought he couldn’t be the best player on a championship team, and now here we are, a couple years and he has led his team to the NBA finals. I don’t think the Heat win this series and he might get picked apart if he plays poorly, but there isn’t a bigger Jimmy Butler fan than me and I hope he sticks it to everyone that doubted him and pulls it off.

Still maintain that while moving him might have been justified, I felt everyone else should have been moved/fired and stuck with him another year to work it out. And to compound the issue even more, the Bulls got fleeced in that deal IMO.

True. How do you get to this point with with a 2b in Adebayo and a couple of #3s? Completely crazy.

When Jimmy came in we were talking about him being a guy that could possibly replace Ronnie Brewer.

Now he has lead a team to the finals. That is incredible.

Whatever a 2b is, Bam has gotta be a deluxe version of that, as he's averaging 18/11/5 in the playoffs on high efficiency and with great defense. I'd rather have him than any center in the East, with Embiid being too much of a ball stopper and Vucevic not having the defensive presence.

Jimmy is not forcing shots most of the time unlike a Derrick in 2011. Obviously, Derrick was inexperienced and the cast was putrid offensively. But, Jimmy is smarter and experienced. He is not doing what he cannot do. If he runs into 3 defenders, he is not trying to be a hero. That's why guys like Duncan Robinson is wide open and even Iggy started hitting his 3s.

And, add to that...Bam is an athletic big who can move around. Even then, I could see Bam positioning himself in the wrong place many times for a rebound. It will be scary once he gets more experience

The people who took issue with the way Jimmy acted are guys who are either out of a job, not winning players or being taken to task about not meeting expectations.
