President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

It’s crazy that Trump wouldn’t pass a security clearance check yet people thought it was smart to make him President. Joe Biden better **** crush him with this during the debates.

At the risk of sounding nihilistic, I feel like we know how it will go.
Biden will rightly call him out on this crap.
Trump will say that he didn’t do anything illegal and simply took advantage of the system.
Republicans and some independents will say that taking advantage of the system makes him smart and that anyone else would do the same.
We’ve seen it before.

Not this time.
I believe the endgame is the revelation Trump misrepresented his assets to the Feds.
Dude is cooked....and I'm here for it.

Did you forget he’s under investigation right now by the New York AG for the same thing? Remember Mitt Romney got **** on for the little taxes he paid. We know a number for Trump $750. Listen nothing is ever going to change the Trump cult those supporters aren’t leaving him, but those supporters are probably 35% of the electorate. Crazy as it sounds there are people who are still undecided and don’t follow Trump as much and don’t know about his blatant criminality. Biden just has to connect the fact that there are people out of work during the pandemic, yet Trump is making millions off the Presidency and paying no taxes.

It's tougher than that. These people voted for Trump knowing full well who he was. Sure, they may feign ignorance and roll their eyes but in the end, they're still likely to support him again. If they haven't been flipped by now, they're hanging on for hatred's sake and aren't changing.Pointgod wrote:miller31time wrote:Pointgod wrote:

This election will be won or lost on voter turnout. Obama didn't give anyone a chance because people showed out. They need to do that again and more. And preferably not stop after one or two elections.

It’s not about changing the mind of the Trump voter and I agree turnout is the key. But Trump’s base is really only 35% max. That’s why he’s never been able to crack 50% approval. He’s always around 42-43%. A portion of that 7% don’t deeply follow politics and might see a bit more money in their bank account. The debates will be their first exposure to Biden and the first chance that real news penetrates their information bubble. Even if you don’t get the whole 7% Biden can hit Trump to make his numbers crater down to something closer to that 35% number where he absolutely can’t win and if Biden gets Obama turn out Trump will be absolutely demolished.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXIX
35% is probably true but they're all going to vote. And when you know there will be legal challenges to any pro-Biden results and that the Rs control the senate, this needs to be super duper pronounced.

$750 for 2 straight years... one might say it's hard to believe. Not to mention that both of those tax returns were filed while he was President.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXIX
What he's going to say is, as is legally required, I turned all my businesses over to my sons - I didn't earn any income from the Trump organization over the past two years, because you jerks told me to. And I donated my entire POTUS salary to charity, so OF COURSE I didn't pay any taxes - I didn't have any income! And now you're yelling at me for it! What a bunch of hypocrites!
Won't work for his 2016 income I suppose. But he can say "hey it was a bad year, I was running for President and didn't have time to make money from my main business, sue me."

So far, they're going with the "The NYT's facts are all wrong" line - from The Trump Organization's lawyer/spokesman, Alan Garten. He's requesting the documents the NYT used. I am curious as to who their source is.

That's a bad strategy - the only way to counter it is to release his actual tax returns. Would be better to just say "these illegally obtained documents show no wrongdoing, these Fake News vultures have it in for me and here's why."
One can only conclude from his reaction that the tax returns are true and he has no legitimate response.
Or he was blindsided by it and his first response was to just lie reflexively and now he's lied himself into a corner.

The scarier headline is the one to the left. I get the feeling since the Hanging Chads our elections have regularly been hacked. The exit polls never match the computer tally. The difference is in the past they would try to keep it plausibly close. This year I think they don't care. Chaos is all they are looking for.
