700+ cases today. New high.
I said **** would hit the fan by October with how lackadaisical we got. But it looks like it hit sooner. Opening up schools, bars, etc. was dumb as hell.

Apparently strip clubs were allowed to reopen.

How many of these cases are from school kids....I always felt that physically sending them back to school instead of making it strictly online for the next semester or two was a mistake.

No pickup basketball either. Most gyms are shut down (especially the basketball courts)
And will be too cold for outdoor courts.

Depends on whether or not parents are allowed to work from home.
I have no option to work from home and my wife is working full time but is only working from home for a couple of days a week...so in that case we have little to no choice but to send the kids to school.
6 months ago my wife was working from home full time so remote learning was doable.
Hopefully her company (a government company) changes its stance on forcing people back to work when working from home was equally as effective.

If you feel unwell and are curious about whether or not you have contracted COVID, please STAY HOME! DO NOT GET TESTED!
The only reason you or a loved one should ever think about walking into your local clinic or an emergency room or an assessment center is because you or a family member are so ill to the point having your respiratory system comprised leading to hospitalization.
The government of Ontario is counting on people voluntarily getting tested so they can enact more draconian measures and policies that will choke the little freedoms we have left. More testing does not help anything. If you're under the age of 50 you have an 8 percent chance of being hospitalized.
If you want to be tested in lue of a family event of 10 people or less (thanksgiving for example) and don't want to infect family members who are vulnerable people potentially, that makes total sense. But if you feel like **** and have COVID systems - don't **** go to the Thanksgiving ANYWAYS!
I had a bad cold this week (upper respiratory) and opted out of some fun social events I would have otherwise loved to have attended. I'm 99% sure I didn't/don't have COVID but I'm **** damn sure I'm not going to line up at an assessment centre so I can give the government information that I frankly don't have time to give, nor do I want to.
This is just dangerous to spew.
Here's my rebuttal.
If you're sick, get tested. If you're sick, then all the people you've contacted could be sick too. They may even be asymptomatic/pre-symptomatic. How would you feel knowing that you were sick, didn't get tested, and somebody you knew from the gym/your condo/your work place contracted the disease (since it can take a few days for symptoms to show up, so even if you stayed home once you started feeling under the weather, you still could have spread it before symptoms showed up) and visited their 95 year old granny.
Lol what do you think the governments going to do with your information? Have you never gotten your blood tested? Have you never went to a doctor's appointment? What does Ford gain from people staying home? It just screws him, since it makes him look even more incompetent. No one gives a **** about you dude the way you think they do, I'm sorry to say.
I laugh at the "little freedoms we have left". We have it great compared to other places like Hong Kong.

Ford and his team are idiots - they said they'll only go back down to stage 2 if they ''absolutely have to''. WTF are they waiting for? For cases to spike back up over a thousand again??? SMH.

I also went to the hospital for an emergency last week and was shocked at the lack of precautions being taken to keep at-risk patients (or any patients) from Covid exposure.
I was exposed at least 3 times. Thankfully I had a mask on and a plastic face cover that I brought from home. I am someone with past heart and lung surgery, so I'm very much in a high risk group (this visit was for a lung issue).
Hospital visits for heart attacks/strokes/PE are down 30% this year because people are scared to go to hospitals and I can't blame them.
The UK is designating Covid-free hospitals in every city, which we should be doing too. People shouldn't have to second guess going to the hospital.

Yes and the past few months there has been outbreaks and cases due to strip club visits.
I agree with the other guy, things that are obviously not essential should not have opened.

A lot of businesses have a very robust infrastructure for implementing social distancing guidelines and contact tracing. Some of them, of course, have failed miserably (*cough* strip-clubs *cough*), so they can't all be treated the same.

You're missing the point completely.
The more testing enacted will directly result (likely) in higher numbers overall. I'm not for or against the individual case - leaning more on the example I gave about thanksgiving in my first post.
If you're symptomatic then the damage has already been done because spreading happens during incubation. What good is it to then stand in line while you're already feeling ill so you can be counted? And for what? Its not a tinfoil hat conspiracy thing bro - its pumping up numbers so the media can get more clicks and then the provincial government reacts after the fact.
I have a 90-year-old grandma with pulmonary fibrosis and cancer - I don't want her to die but the Bill of Rights and Freedoms has been pissed on by the abuse of the Emergency Act sending this entire economy to the brink, threatening our very own standard of living. I know no one gives a **** about me or you, I'm talking about macro numbers being used politically to expand this nightmare when it isn't needed.

Are 'hot spot' lockdowns an option? For example, if 90% of the cases are in Toronto, can just Toronto be locked down? Or get even more specific and start locking down 5 mile radius areas with outbreaks?
More provincial or Canada wide lock downs will cripple the economy. We need other options.

We should wait on the 7 day trend to see if we consistently get these numbers or it's a blip. We shouldn't be surprised though, the second wave has been warned for months and there are many people who feel their invincible even in this thread. Couple that with 3 weeks from the start of school and I am not sure why people are shocked. Even stores used to be diligent about the number of people inside of them, activiely counting but there are no longer line-ups at Walmart or Loblaws outside. This is to be expected and it will get worse, question is how much worse.

I've been waiting for the prices to falter. There MUST be a lot of foreign investment keeping the prices where they are. Everyone I know is scared to do anything drastic until normalcy returns.

I am a substitute teacher and I haven't gone back to school this year to supply because of this worry. With Cerb ending this month I have no choice really. I know it can't hurt me but my parents are in their 50s and I live in a condo and don't want to spread it to my neighbors.
But at the same time I have bills and loans to pay so work is necessary, so I'll just risk it and go starting october.

Finding stuff like this out freaks me out...
https://www.blogto.com/eat_drink/2020/09/yonge-street-warehouse-toronto-covid-19/
And ya...it may be all well and good that hospitalizations and deaths aren't spiking (yet) but these people who attend bars, clubs and house parties go back to their jobs in grocery stores, restaurants, etc. and risk exposing other people...and that is why this increase in cases is a big deal. I don't want to leave the house in fear that going to the grocery store or getting food from a restaurant to pick up take out will potentially expose me or my parents to covid.
