Boston should be focused on their frontcourt nothing else.

Dipo to the Raptors makes little sense too.

We have Lowry, FVV, Davis and Powell and at SF/PF we have only OG and PS. Why in the world would we not shore up that position instead of trading for a guy that has one year left and for us... frankly, doesn't move the needle enough here.

The only way this works is a S+T for FVV if FVV wants to play for the Pacers, as the salaries probably match and Dipo has only one year.

I’d love to take a flyer on Dipo and let Alex work his magic.

When he was healthy he’d be exactly the type of scorer needed to help attract Giannis. I’m sorry but Pascal is not that, if anything is a poor mans version of himself.

I won’t lie with Gasol and Serge off the books I’m not sure what our cap situation is like but I’d try to throw near max or max money at Brandon Ingram and then see if NOP matches and bye bye Freddy. I don’t find post play to be as big of a deal next year but having a young lethal wing scoring duo could appeal to Giannis. I don’t see anything currently on our roster that would do that.

I don't think any package puts together makes sense for Indy. The more I think about it, I can't imagine Lowry being traded to a non-contender. Masai would simply not do him like that. The other roster players won't have the same type of value for Dipo.

Dipo to Miami makes more sense. They would probably deal Herro, a FRP and salary for Dipo in the offseason and that is pretty hard to beat. Dipo is buddies with Butler and even works out in Miami in the offseason.

You make the sign and trade of FVV for Dipo.

You run with a potential:

Lowry
Dipo
OG
Siakam
Ibaka (1 year max)

Sign Giannis in the off-season. Flip Siakam + whatever else Beal. Give Lowry a 3-4 year 10 mil contract or whatever handshake deal he wants. Same goes to Ibaka.

Roll out;

Lowry / TD
Dipo / Thomas
Beal / Powell or whoever
OG / MLE
Giannis / Baka

Absolutely zero chance miami even mentions Herro in any trades at this point

Makes more sense than Boston.
Boston has Smart, Brown, and Kemba locked in for the next 3-4 years.
FVV is a free agent this summer and Powell has two years left.

I agree though, current Dipo doesn't move the needle here.

Lakers... they could really use him, but don't see much tradable salary or picks.

Maybe the Bucks if they can get off Bledsoe and nothing really else.

Outside shot Sixers, but meh.

The Raptors need a high level wing player Siakam and OG are big forwards/big men. They are savy, shifty guards that can create their own shots.

Powell, McCaw, and Johnson is the most I would offer. I would keep this years pick to recover depth wise and load manage Dipo for the playoffs.

I think Powell deserves a chance at high usage next season. The past two seasons have been good and he can be a efficient scorer for us. His 2P% has been steadily increasing every year. He nearly shot 60% on his 2P FGAs.

It would make too much sense for us to try and acquire him. Nigerian connection + we need to inject some consistent offense in our starting line up. Obviously we’d need assurance that he is in good health.

LoveMyRaps wrote:I think a sign and trade with Ibaka going to Indiana makes more sense.
Brogdon and Sabonis were unstoppable in the pick and roll last season, the Pacers forte. Sabonis lead the league in the most points scored as the pick and roll man.
Ibaka ranked 3rd. We all know how good he is at that.

https://the-fieldhouse.com/malcolm-brogdon-domantas-sabonis-pick-roll-pacers/

Brogdon running the pick and roll with both Ibaka and Sabonis would make them unstoppable.

Some potential proposals:
Ibaka + Powell + Davis for Oladipo + Turner
Ibaka + Powell + 1st round pick for Oladipo + Turner
Ibaka + 1st round pick + future lottery protected first round pick for Oladipo
Ibaka + Davis for Oladipo

Hmmm wonder if that has anything to do with this IG post from Ibaka

Simmons is worth a lot more than Oladipo. Pacers would have to build a package around Oladipo. Maybe Oladipo + Turner for Simmons.

I wanted Dipo, but like 3-4 years ago. i have injury concerns about him.

Kawhi had injury concerns as well.

A title later, ain't nobody talking.

I like the risky trades for star players. Give me that over entitled star rookies any day of the week.

i hate that people always assume the risk tolerance for every player is the same. you playing with fire here, esp if you're trying to lure a guy like Giannis. the good thing is that Dipo's contract goes for one more year so its not a significant loss if he gets injured. We can always renounce his rights and let Giannis pick his partner in free agency, if the Raptors played it smart to have room for two max contracts in that offseason.

Even before he was hurt two years ago, and after... think there's a bunch of people that didn't watch Oladipio. We need a better first option, not worse 2nd or 3rd options.

Return to Toronto Raptors
