Re: 2020 NBA Draft Thread: Bulls pick 4th: PT 2
Here's why I'm unwilling give up anything to trade to move up to #1 or #2, the first mock drafts came out and people were all set that it was a top 3 and everybody else. None of these kids have played a game since March, nobody has seen them work out, or spoken to them or seen them lift a weight but suddenly there are experts who have guys moving up or down. Based on no additional information. If you want to chase your tails go ahead but until they all show up at a draft camp, get measured, run some drills and get seen in person, stop acting like you see more than tea leaves.

Well, I think the bright side is you can literally scout every player on the board and probably trade up for him (with very little) if you really believe in him. Or if you don't have to, then you just get a feel for where they're going and trade down.
In our beloved Tyrus draft... Khryapa and #4 were enough for #2. This is probably that kind of a draft. Gafford and #4 would probably get it done.
I actually think March Madness is misleading anyway. Skipping the tournament kind of makes the top-5 prospects easier to judge and rank. You end up playing what, 7 games on your road to an NCAA title? It's such a rough and overblown sample size, especially considering the wild separation between elite and bottom-rank teams. The match-ups are all over the place. That elimination game where Aldridge went 1-16 or something and LSU won (Tyrus had a big game), I guess that one game was enough for Paxson to form his decision. Isn't it easier to just focus on a players' raw abilities, skills and b-ball IQ? Hell, Derrick Rose basically blew it for Memphis in the finals as Mario Chalmers got the best of him. I can't think of one player who exploded on the final four scene, bumped his draft stock and lived up to it. Maybe Wade? Though he sure didn't go top-3.

Everybody that thinks this jumper is fixable should by no means doubt Hayes' jumpshot.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

There will be plenty of focus on the young guys. The FO is going to bring in as much young talent as possible if we follow the Nuggets model.
Except this would be even more extreme than Nuggets model. Let’s look at their roster from 3 years ago to put them in a place where the Bulls should be now. Of their main rotation guys, they played 4 younger guys and had a host of good vets. The Bulls have a few vets (Only Porter good, but unhealthy) plus LaVine and then 6 younger guys.
VETS
K Faried
Gallinari
W Chandler
W Barton
J. Nelson
YOUNGS
G Harris
E Mudiay
J Murray
N Jokic
The Bulls have
VETS
Thad
Sato
Porter
LaVine (???)
YOUNGS
Coby
WCJ
Lauri
Hutch
Gafford
#4 pick
More draft picks (???)
You forget that the Nuggets brought young talent in bulk. Nurkic, Harris and Jokic were all taken in the same draft(courtesy of the McDermott trade).
2013
They traded Rudy Gobert for Erick Green and cash and then they traded for the #55 pick to draft Joffrey Lauvergne
2014
They traded Doug McDermott for Jusuf Nurkic and Gary Harris and then selected Nikola Jokic
2015
They drafted Emmanuel Mudiay & Nikola Radičević
2016
They drafted Jamal Murray, Juan Hernangómez and Petr Cornelie
2017
They traded Donovan Mitchell for Trey Lyles and still took Vlatko Čančar and Monte Morris.
2018
They drafted Michael Porter Jr, Jarred Vanderbilt & Thomas Welsh
2019
They traded away their 1st rounder to clear Kenneth Faried and traded for the #44 pick to draft Bol Bol
It's not more extreme at all. That's 16 draft picks in 7 seasons. That's not even including them making trades for younger players like Barton.

Not as worried about his jumper as I am his ability to score efficiently.

What exactly has Lamelo worked on here? His form looks exactly the same.
I don't think there's a ton of doubters on Hayes' form, he absolutely needs to learn how to catch and shoot though. I'm more worried about his off-hand than his jumper, I don't know how well he'll be able to handle NBA defenders hedging his screeners or trapping him at half court.

Low release and barely elevates to shoot? Dude is going to be copping so many blocks back into the face with that shot.

I fully agree. Even as a Hayes believer, his right hand dribbling and finishing should be his main focus of improvement. As a functional pull up shooter and efficient FT shooter whose form is correct, his efficiency should eventually translate to C&S.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

The fact that LaMelo's camp thinks it's actually a good thing to let that video out says all you need to know about what he thinks about his shot.

Lamelo might have a Marion thing going on , most of Ball’s bad % is his shot selection

No team in the league is dumb enough to not change his jumper, especially after seeing Lonzo go through his issues.
I don't even think they'll give him the 1st season before changing it.

This does put a smile on my face. Hopefully the Warriors don't pull any shenanigans and allow us to grab Hayes.
I just can't wait for the draft to happen. Reading all of these lazy mock drafts gets stale after awhile without new draft reports that would push or pull a player's draft stock.
And I can't wait to see what AK and Eversley has in store for us.

I could see Okoro and Vassell getting drafted higher than normal. Wings are the most critical position in the league and these two have high floors in a draft that is incredibly uncertain. I wouldn’t be crushed if the Bulls drafted one of them.

I could see the Cavs picking Okoro. Their defense is atrocious and the Cavs can be patient in developing Okoro. And the Cavs have shooters so it would give Okoro more space to work with.

You’re ignoring their actual roster. I just posted it. They had a lineup full of vets and a few young guys in the rotation.
16 picks in 7 years is nothing special when you’re supposed to have 14.
This team already has too many young guys to groom.
