Of course. MJ was a way better scorer, leader and clutch player, but Pippen was better at everything else(defense, playmaking, rebounding) while being a pretty good scorer also.

He was a legit Top 5 player and perfect #2 like AD nowadays.

I would have in 1995. It’s 2020 now. It’s Lebron.

The coach who used the media to manipulate players talked up a player known for always feeling like he didn't get credit, wow that's strange.

So Jordan played with the best all-around player in the NBA who really came into his own starting around 1991? Interesting.

I was a 12 year old kid watching Scottie on the Bulls and it always felt like Mike got all the glamor but Scottie was the heart and soul of that team. I never liked Jordan, it felt like the media and commercials were trying to shove him down my throat and I told myself Scottie was better at everything outside from shooting the ball much more.

Greatest all-around player makes it seem like he's the best. I could buy most complete at that point with MJ out of the league but Pippen wasn't better than Hakeem or David Robinson in 1995.

mj was a better defender than pippen. that is no slight to pippen as he was great defensively and often guarded the best wing scorer on the other team to allow mike more energy for the offensive end, but mike was the best wing defender in the world - arguably the best wing defender of all time.

Jackson was hired 8 months after Bargnani trade.

Really? I recall Marbury and Iverson shaking Jordan out of his shoes.

Blows my mind that people still think this. Pippen was peak vs peak better than MJ and over their careers clearly better than MJ as a defender. You just can't teach length and Pippen's extra length was a huge difference maker.

Nope, he wasn't a top 5 player.

That Iverson crossover being a big deal shows how highly people though of Jordan as a defender. It's actually pretty amazing that the quickest player ever "shook" a 34 year old MJ out of his shoes on a blatant carry and still barely got the shot over Jordan's hands.

Scottie was definitely the better overall defender than Jordan though.

I actually was going to make a Pippen thread yesterday after watching this video. Scottie is the most disrespected player ever.
