Celtics wouldn't have won the title without the defense that Thibs built there. He wasn't my first choice, but I sure as hell prefer him to Doc.

Some coaches failed when dealt the same cards.
And winning in their first year together knowing how teams usually fail the first go round is definitely an achievement in and of itself.
I don’t understand the Rivers hate. I’m not saying he doesn’t deserve any blame for the Clippers’ failure but he gets disproportionately dissected and disrespected compared to other coaches imo. I mean Brad Stevens let the Kyrie situation fester and poison the locker room last year, and had his team playing straight ISO ball (not unlike Rivers) in these ECF and yet hasn’t been held accountable at any moment for these failures.
I think it was time for Doc and the Clippers to part ways but let’s not diminish his chip with Boston. These Celtics teams were very well coached.

there has been a team with 3 HOF on the roster in there primes that haven't won a championship?
I mean OKC will have had 3 HOF that didn't win it but all of them were really puppies at the time (and Harden wasn't harden yet). Is there another case of a team having that much talent with 3 HOF in there prime?
Utah Jazz might be the closest but they had 2 HOF (stockton and malone) and tough to get on them they lost to the best basketball player ever in back to back finals.
His clippers run has been a travesty. He has had loaded teams in the 7 years he has been there and doesn't even have a conference finals appearance let alone a NBA finals appearance.

I hate defending Boston but Brad is a much better coach than Doc as well. My guy Chanel has been losing it since Jokic disappeared against AD

and finally with Tatum he might have a superstar on his team. He took over a team that was horrible. There best player was Isaiah Thomas. He had a checked out Kyrie for a couple years thats it.
Doc has had CP3, Blake, and Jordan in there primes. As well as Kawhi and PG13 this year. With the 6th man of the 5 times in those 7 years. His teams have been loaded with talent and he hasn't done anything with them.

Yeah Brad really turned that franchise around. Those teams with IT were trash too but yet they were the#1 seed.
With Tatum taking the leap to super stardom (or borderline) and Brown looking like a future all star, Brad is gonna look even better and I’m sure he’s gonna get them in the finals.
Doc should really have at least 2 rings just with the clippers cause of all that talent he’s coached. He’s the ultimate fraud.

I will give Dantoni credit for kinda revolutionizing the pace and space offensive game which the NBA is all about. But in terms of that translating to winning basketball it hasn't been there because defense still wins in the NBA when it matters in the playoffs.

Yup, that's why he keeps getting coaching jobs even though he will NEVER win a championship as a head coach. Like you said, defense still wins you championships in the NBA.

Maybe there's more to getting to the finals than just one player not named LeBron....just maybe.
Brett Brown is Fizdale level of cluelessnes
So you agree it's more than just one player. It takes star player(s), a well built team and a good coach to contend for the finals. One player alone isn't going to take a bad team and make it a playoff team unless of course that player is LeBron.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Rivers is the GOAT when it comes to overrated coaches. If you had a Brad Stevens or Spo in his place, the big 3 Celtics would have won two rings and the Clippers one. Ballmer made the right call.

Ppl talked themselves into THJ & Portis. An actual all NBA perennial all star two way player? Everyone would talk themselves into it.
This what the Mills reign turned us into. We are professional silver lining chasers.
The alternative would be all of the Knicks fans dying out from self inflicted wounds.

Pop, Kerr, Spo, Carlisle, Nurse, Malone, Snyder and Monty Williams. These are the good coaches in NBA right now.
