Some veteran bench leadership and some interior help would be good. I really don't think we are far away if the team can stay healthy. If Robert Williams can stay healthy it might go a real long way towards the depth we need. I prefer Hayward coming off the bench aggressive with a green light than having him start as well, he's still a really solid player but he's redundant on the floor with the Jays. Keep him healthy and let him run the second unit.

FYI, this is the page that KGBoss's post comes from, but filtered to UFAs. That helps me not get too excited over player option / RFA guys: https://www.spotrac.com/nba/free-agents/ufa/

You can filter it any way you want by type, position, etc. Then sort on any column like $, age, etc.

I absolutely love Adams, but he is not what we need the most of, so Celtics say no. If we punt Hayward, we go bigger game hunting than Adams

I’m fine running it back and letting the young guys grow. Sign a depth guy with the MLE and see if you can strike gold in the draft.

Am I the only one who would love to replace Theis with Ibaka?

Andre Miller might be interesting as an assistant coach, although his dream seems to be a college coaching job.

Depending on the return, I'm not opposed to trading Hayward. Seeing Tatum's leap as a playmaker and Brown's ascent as a more reliable/consistent scorer in the playoffs makes Gordo the most overqualified and overpaid 4th option in the league. But whether we keep Hayward or not, I believe Tatum and Brown both need to improve as offball threats. There were far too many possessions in the postseason where our players just stand around, watch the ballhandler create something, and wait for the ball come to them. This is both on them and Stevens to unlock this part of their game. Not really turn them into Curry and Klay who are magnificent with catch-and-shoot threes. But just watch a ROOKIE Herro move non-stop in the half court until he gets open relocating beyond the arc or has a free lane cutting to the rim. Heck, even Jae got uncontested layups when his three wasn't falling. This should've been already instilled in them when we had a passing/facilitating big in Horford, but oh well (it was probably harder then since we had a ball-dominant Kyrie). Never too late to start.

How though? He's making $23M this year. He's a UFA, but we don't have any cap space.

We could get under the tax and offer full non-tax MLE, which starts around $9.7M, but everyone and their brother offers that.
Would probably have to be S&T with TOR and we don't have salary. Unless it's part of a big Hayward deal.

So, yeah, would be great, but pretty unlikely.

I'm basically leaning that way too.

That said, Brad could step up his teaching/coaching/scheming on offense. It is true in different ways of all five of Tatum, Kemba, Hayward, Smart, Brown that:
-- He's a threat to drive to(ward) the basket and score, perhaps unless he's defended with such a drop that he's a threat to simply drain a lightly-defended 3.
-- It's usually hard but often possible to stop him from having a great shot either at or near the basket. If you do stop him, you'll usually open a lot of passing lanes.

So guys need to relocate to be in those passing lanes. And all of them could improve at such relocation, Brown, Theis and Grant perhaps excepted.

To move up and draft 1 particular guy? Who you got in mind?

Give this team a bench some how next year....look to trade Hayward /consolidate him into depth/bench pieces.

If we move up, Wiseman or Vassell. If not, they have 3 bites at the Apple to get a diamond in the rough

Ibaka's probably a no brainer if he signs for the MLE.

Having said that, he's at least 30 years old, his shot blocking has been on the decline...and that worries me only because I wonder about his legs...
