Surprised to see some of you not on the Terry train just yet. I'll admit I'm probably overly confident in the kid but seeing his work ethic on display already, gaining 20 pounds in a short period of time and it not affecting his game, really has me intrigued. Aside from his insane shoot abilities, his playmaking abilites are also very good and watching him in a PnR with Giannis has me salivating.
My only fear is a team like the Celtics, Sixers or Heat nab him before us and he becomes another pillar of success for our rival teams.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - OFF SEASON EDITION
The value of a later pick for contending teams is lower. Contending teams can attract much better players (e.g. Brook Lopez, Wes Matthews) that getting a replacement level player out of a pick is a bad outcome.
I'm off the opinion that if opportunity arises, as a contending team drafting in the 20's you try to trade your pick every time. Wether that is to trade up, trade out, trade for star players or trade for better role players. This team would have been in a much better spot if we trades Ersan, Wilson and the Pacers pick for Bogdan last November.
Now I'm not necessarily sold on Terry being the guy to trade up for but if the franchise thinks he's the guy to get you do it.

I'm not sure that trade was available last year, nor would Bodgdan be a cultural fit with Bud. But that said, I concur with you on going for a higher level piece with the draft pick via trade.
The Bucks lost the title last year because the Raptors got Gasol and our counter of Mirotic (and the done Gasol, namely Pau) didn't pan out. It was that close, and Marc Gasol caused us a myriad of problems v. Toronto.
Same thing happened this year with Marvin. He was a non factor, but the Heat are riding into the Finals because of Iggy and Crowder.
The margin here is that thin.

I pretty much agree with all of this, but you can't trade all your picks if you already have depth. In hindsight, the Mirotic trade was problematic because they were inevitably going to eventually need lots of picks to maximize their chances of getting a few rotation players on rookie deals. In other words, no point to trading picks for more guys like Wes and RoLo and Korver when you already arguably have too many of them and are going 11-deep in contested second round playoff games just to play them all.

I say this every couple of years, but poor drafting absolutely kills this team not only now but in the future.
When people say "that pick set them back 4 years" that is real. The Thon pick set us back. The Vaughn pick set us back. The Wilson pick set us back. Those should be playable/moveable assets for this team right now. I'll even throw in Jabari even though I understand that pick completely. The Bucks made the wrong call.
I believe that we would be going to our second or possibly third consecutive conference finals if we would have just drafted better. We can't afford to miss, no matter where we pick.

Milwaukee is never going to be a top free agent hot spot, but there's no reason not to employ people that can tell you drafting Johnny O'Bryant over Nikola Jokic ridiculous. The team is owned by billionaires. Can we hire the best and the brightest, please? That's our best chance.

Yes and for a location like MKE it is doubly important to draft well. It's not a desirable FA spot and if you do hit on a pick you have a bigger risk of losing the player after his second contract. You get the draft pick for 7ish years if you want him. That's big for a market like Milwaukee.

Exact same thought crossed my mind. I believe it was Brogdon and our pick to move up to take Mitchell. But hey, at least we got DJ.
I'm not even sure you would have needed to include the first. I mean, all it took was the Nuggets falling in love with Trey Lyles for them to move back and take some bum named Tyler Lydon. Just imagine how much better this team would be positioned if you sent them a shiny new ROTY Malcolm Brogdon for the pick and drafted Mitchell, and still kept 17 and drafted a guy like OG Anunoby. And that's even with Thon and Jabari playing out the exact same way. It's why though I think Horst has done an "adequate" job as GM thus far, at some point you need to be a more aggressive risk-taker.

I can't tell you how many friends and people online were telling me "it's not going to matter" when Bucks are ready to compete that we blew those draft picks and made those bad trades and signed those cap killing deals.
Now, they're all watching the finals and wondering why we don't have a Herro or Duncan or a Bam or an OG Anunoby
Bucks have 3 offseasons of work to do in one year to convince Giannis to stay
I wish I had a more positive outlook, but I don't think we're going to be able to do much this winter. Letting Brogdon walk was a calculated risk that so far has blown up in our face and now our roster looks impossibly too old to compete.
Bucks need to stop chasing these guys on at the tail end of their careers and find some more productive rookies and younger vets.
Without cap space, young movable assets, a bevy of draft picks, we don't have the arsenal to make a legit offer for a CP3, Beal or Oladipo.
Bucks are just going to shuffle some deck chairs this offseason like Bledsoe for Dennis Shroeder and give it another go.
I really think we blew a major opportunity the last two years that might not present itself again next season, in possibly the crucial season of this franchise.

But some of the Raps younger players were a part of that as well. You cant dismiss that. Bucks have very little youth that they can depend on.paulpressey25 wrote:LuessiT wrote:This team would have been in a much better spot if we trades Ersan, Wilson and the Pacers pick for Bogdan last November.

With Marc heading to Spain, I could see Masai moving on from the older guys and reconfiguring around Siakam. Does Bledsoe, Ersan, Wilson, 2023 top-10 protected 1st get it done for Lowry? The biggest issue is probably the next two years on Bled's deal after this upcoming one.

I think we gotta find a third team with an expiring who’d want Bled.

Toronto wants to make sure they have cap space to sign Giannis next year. They aren't going to take Bledsoe's contract, especially assuming they hand FVV a big contract this offseason. I don't think there's really any reason to think Gasol leaving would impact their plans at all. They can replace him with a cheap free agent on a 1 year deal and draft a young guy to eventually take over there.

This one got out of control fast guys...
DAL - Bled, Norm Powell, Robin
TOR - THJ, Ersan, Wilson, D Powell, future MKE pick
MKE - Lowry, Finney-Smith
I think Cuban could be sold on Bled as a secondary ball-handler and the type of defender they'll need against guys like Murray, Harden, Mitchell, Dame/CJ.

Budenholzer seems like an Alliance guy where as Bogdan is the leader of the horde.

Bucks: Lowry, #27 (from Knicks via Clippers)
Knicks: Bledsoe
Raptors: #24, French Frank, Ersan, DJ Wilson, Wayne Ellington, Dennis Smith Jr (all expiring)
The Knicks get Bledsoe for #27 for Frank and expiring waste. The Raptors get #24 and expiring waste. We get Lowry and move back three spots for Bledsoe and expiring waste. As fans, we remain expiring waste.

Well I posted to the Dallas forum a couple days ago about their opinion on a Seth Curry / Bledsoe deal ...
They were positive in a trade like Bledsoe & DDV for Seth Curry & Dellon Wright
