I understand that Dwight could bring us some physical inside presence but I would prefer not having to root for him...

Add him to the list of serviceable centers in fa.
Dwight
Gasol
Ibaka
Favors
Baynes
Any of these guys can soak up 20 min a night.

He’s played backup center to gobert and started at center for the pels. He just gets hurt all the time but he’s good defensively

Re: Free Agent Talk
Negative to Favors. He is overrated defensively and any big in the post season will abuse him because he is undersized. Also a negative offensively as well. Like he can't even jump, catch lobs, finish, pass. Just NO

Re: Free Agent Talk
Gallinari would be my top FA target. How realistic? Probably not very. But a closing lineup of Curry-Klay-Wiggins-Gallo-Green sounds juicy. Next up would be Bertans. Again, probably not realistic with just a tax MLE. But you gotta try. Team needs shooting off the bench.
The backup PG pickings are pretty slim. There are better options to get one with the TPE. FA Center options suck too.
I think you'll see Ibaka, Gasol, Dragic, and Crowder sign high dollar, one year deals with their current clubs that will be difficult to match with tax MLE.

Draymond needs to play C as little as possible. Like, almost 0 minutes in the regular season. He needs to be fresh for the post season

Re: Free Agent Talk
Yeah, Gallinari would be a great get but he most likely will get one more multi year deal. I would be amazed if Ibaka or Baynes could come on the cheap as well but they would both be a great fit.

Gasol's run in the states may be over. Possibly staying to play in Spain. Great run if true.

Favors' health brought him back to earth years ago. Vet min okay, not more.

Will be interesting to see if he has anything left in the tank.
Seems like he is intent on being a dub.
Love that type of vet depth at SF.

Re: Free Agent Talk
Anyone interested in Thon Maker? He's a RFA but could come cheap. Sounds like the Pistons won't extend a $3.6M QO and they figure he'll get less than that, either from them or someone else.

Maybe if they're interested in Simmons, since there's probably little demand for him elsewhere, they don't expect to be able to acquire GR3.

How about Meyers Leonard? He could be had for cheap. And shoot the 3s pretty good.

I've been on the east coast the last five or so years and watched about as much of Milwaukee as I did the Warriors, so I've seen plenty of Thon. He won't really move the needle. He's very athletic, but not particularly coordinated. His best asset is his ability to guard out on the perimeter on switches and hit the occasional 3. But there's not much else to be excited about with him. He's not a very instinctive player and doesn't have much of an ability to make open passes or be in the right place on offense. He'd drive Kerr nuts and while he can shoot it a bit, he'd get pulverized by thick C's. This team needs a bruiser stretch 5 far more than it needs an undersized, skinny stretch 5.

Re: Free Agent Talk
Unless trades happen we don't have roster spots for fringe players or vet minimums. Assuming major trades don't happen (any they definitely could)....
We already have:
Steph / Bowman
Klay / Poole
Wiggins / Lee
Dray / Paschall
Chriss / Looney / Smiley
That is 11 players I think are locks for the roster. If you add Mulder and Juan thats 13 roster spots.
#2
MLE
TPE
2nd rounder
2nd rounder
If we use all assets available, we are at 18 players. Drop Mulder and Juan and find a way to turn the 2 2nd rounders and cash into 1 pick, and thats our 15 (again, barring trades).
So I really see us mostly focusing on getting the best possible player with the MLE and TPE and leaving it at that.
Unless of course we trade picks and assets for an allstar level player, but thats a different thread.

I don't think any of the non-guaranteed players (except Chriss) are locks for roster spots. That's Lee, JTA, Bowman, and Mulder - I expect them to bring some cheap vets to camp to compete for those spots.

I don't think Bowman is more likely to make the roster than Mulder. I'd love to get off Smiley as well in a trade if it opens up a roster spot. Saw this trade proposed in a BR mock draft. I think I'd do this. Would throw in Smiley to make it happen as well and clear up that roster spot.
Grab Vassell at #6, try and get Jordan Clarkson or Austin Rivers at the MLE, go after Mo Harkless for the vet minimum, sign Simmons at the minimum as well if Kerr really likes him.
Curry / Clarkson / Poole
Thompson / Lee / Mulder
Harkless / Vassel / Simmons
Green / Paschall / Harkless
Turner / Chriss / Looney
