Klutch sports client. No way he takes a pay cut to sign with us.

PRetty much.
Good assessment:

Trade for Lonzo then trade up for #2 to get Lamelo.
Sign Liangelo out of Amazon Warehouse or wherever he's working.
Ball-Ball-Ball back court.

Next logical step is to trade Tacko for Bol Bol straight up.

I think moving Smart wouldn't be smart. haha. He means too much to the team. What he does to help the team win cannot be taught. Very few guys bring the intangibles that Marcus does. Not to mention that the guys clearly like him and look up to him. I think having a guy like Smart in your corner helps you play your game and feel more comfortable. Sorta like if you're a skilled guy in hockey and you have one of the games best enforcers on your team. You are set to play free and not worry about your head getting chopped off.

Don't get me wrong, Smart has been improving. His b-ball IQ on offense isn't very high tho. He's consistently taken more shots than our best guys on offense the past several years, and he was averaging 4 TOs a game in the playoffs, I think it was over 4 against MIA and TOR. He probably should've been the DPOY, but his offense leaves a lot to be desired, he's improved, but he needs to know his place and I have a feeling he never will...

I mean if Smart was a really good and efficient offensive player he’d be one of the best players in the league.

What if.............

Post#1767 » by HondoFave » Thu Oct 1, 2020 9:27 pm

If the C's were healthier (GH and KW) - do you think they would have gotten by Miami?
I say yes.
Given the roster configuration with cap issues - they do not have a lot of wiggle room and maybe do not need to do anything drastic. I think what they need is:

1. Health(better luck)
2. An interior presence - 10-15 minutes / game to prevent the type action we saw in 4th Q v. Miami (Bam)
3. A stretch big (think of a big with a Herro type impact) who can shoot

My suggestions:
1. fingers crossed
2. A FA - maybe Howard or Harrell?
3. A pick - maybe Bey or Jalen Smith

Ball handlers: Kemba, Smart
Wings: Tatum, Brown, Bey/Smith, Hayward
Bigs: Theis , Grant, RW, Howar

thoughts? (1st time poster so pls go easy on me)

Very possible, but still a coin flip, they beat us fair and square, how we did not respond to he zone better in Game 2 is beyond me. We have to figure out how to guard Bam. Miami is not more talented then us, it was a really close series. With JB and JT and Both Williams getting better I like our odds next year.

thx, Spin Move.
Wish they had more flexibility to make moves but since it seems only the MLE and picks are going to be options - the key is going to be good health. Maybe I am nuts but I truly feel that with the young guys having some experience now (Grant/RW), combined with the greatness of Tatum and Brown and the health of all, with the right pick and MLE signing they can win it all.

Seriously, Lonzo is like 75% of Smart on defense and what he provides on offense is more valuable than what Smart brings, which is low-efficiency ball-dominating scoring and bad shots taken early in the shot clock. Plus Lonzo is young and people absolutely hate him so he could be extended for cheap. If NOP would bite I would try to swing Smart for Lonzo.

Trade for Lonzo and draft LaMello! The "Big Baller" brand comes to Boston.

Draft Patrick Williams & Josh Green. Sign Jeff Green. Resign Javonte. Trade for JaMychal

Ball, Ball, Ball, Bol, Williams, Williams, Williams, Green, Green, Green, Green
Then, our good players not named any of that nonsense.

Who cares mate? We weren’t good enough. Our roster isn’t as nicely pieced as theirs..don’t mean to have a go at a first time poster (and welcome!) but there’s no use in wondering. Management needs to make whatever glimmer of a move they can given our cap situation the next two seasons; can’t see the team as it stands winning it all

thx, London. Did not mean to imply we would have won - I think they would have - but agree it does not matter. Miami played much better and deserve credit. Work needs to be done - just put that out there for perspective. Do they really need to do anything drastic? I don't think they do but that is just my opinion and I appreciate others feedback.

What would you like to see them do given the cap issues?

Good topic, and welcome! We have a lot of offseason ones already, though, so I merged this to the Trade Ideas Thread. I guess I could've picked Offseason one too.... or the lux tax one. :)

A fully healthy Hayward and a fully healthy Kemba would've had more confidence driving the paint, esp in clutch situations. Zone wouldn't have been much of an issue esp. in game 2. Hayward's defense wouldn't have been crap in games 5 and 6. Gordo had one game where he kinda looked like himself then it was all downhill from there.

Oh, and Raps series wouldn't have gone the full length with a healthy Hayward. Means more rest and prep for our guys. That series was taxing.

Hayward was averaging 19/8/4 on 61% TS% in 34 mpg during the seeding games. He was getting to the FT line as much as Tatum. That was the Gordon we could've had in the playoffs.

Ainge has a tough mission because he loves to draft for the future but the window is open now. Kemba and Hayward are getting a bit older. I really hope he can cash some of those picks in for a useful vet. If not, hopefully, he can get a pick who can pay immediate dividends (unlikely but not impossible).

Never in my thoughts that we'd come to a Ball discussion in the Trade thread. Lmao

I don't know if or how much Kemba played with pain, but it wsn't his lack of quickness that was concerning me.. it was his diminutive size that killed us.. Since Boston probably can't trade him (my 1st choice) he needs to come off the bench and not close out games anymore. Smart and Brown should be the start and finishing backcourt. Problem I see is Stevens won't have the nerve to do it..
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..
