No coach on Earth can coach the 76ers to playoff success with Elton Brand as their GM. Considering all the assets he had, and how he's wasted them all, I'm not sure there's a worse executive in the NBA.

Rivers is an upgrade over Brown but I always felt Brown himself was set up to fail by management. That roster is a mess.

I don't think I'll watch a single game of those Finals.

I actually hope AD wins FMVP. That would bring LBJ closer to Magic than MJ in terms of legacy. I could live with that.

It's a panel of journalists who vote for FMVP. But they have their own agendas as well, as evidenced by their decision not to vote for Curry in 2015 despite him averaging 26-5-6 on .585 TS%. So it's still very much narrative-driven.

Man our President of Basketball Operations has literally no experience as an NBA executive. He hasn’t shown anything. Yes he’s hired some technocrats with solid resumes but he’s the captain of the ship and he has never sailed. You don’t know to what extent he’s gonna trust them, listen to them let alone empower them, especially when they’re at odds. Whether we want to see the glass half full or half empty, let’s not pretend we’re not completely in the dark here.

Sometimes, you have to start somewhere though.

Riley started off as a coach, then an executive and we all see how that turned out. At least Rose has had experience with management - as in managing a player portfolio as an agent. It may not be the same as building a team, but he recognizes based on his previous relationships with people, who to put in positions where they are good at.
