He’s not a great coach but I think we’ll see Simmons break out under Doc. He seems to empower his players whereas Brown seemed like more of a system guy

Good for him! Glad he's hired by a team other than the one I follow.

IMO an offense tactician like MDA is best suited for the Sixers. They are already good on the defensive side.

However, Rivers is a supposed great motivator.......and if he can motivate Simmons to start taking 3's-or even to take elbow jumpers-then this may be a good fit.

Nah. MDA doesn't know how to coach bigs. I was saying MDA going to Philly would be similar situation as when he signed with the Lakers with Pau/Dwight. He doesn't know how to coach to the strengths of his players and Philly is not built to play his style (big team). He would've hurt Embiid's value like he did with Pau Gasol on the Lakers.

Doc was impressive coaching the Clippers last season even after Tobias Harris was moved who was their leading scorer. The dynamic of the team completely changed, they lost arguably their most impactful player from last season Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who was a floor general and efficient mid-range shooter. He made everyone from Shamet,Gallinari,Harrell, and Lou better with his play-making ability.

The Clippers added 2 all-stars but the unity and roles were not defined, Doc will have more leverage coaching Ben Simmons who can run an offense much better than Kawhi Leonard and Paul George and I'd say just as good a defender as well. Not sure what the Sixers roster will look like next season but are headed in the right direction.

Perfect situation for Doc... two often injured or with conditioning problems stars go under achieving in playoffs... perfect for Doc to have excuses to fail in playoff too...

With Marc gasol leaving the NBA if they lose to the Raptors again, they should just fire doc after the game.

I am not really a fan of this move. I think Rivers would have been a better fit for the Nets. Not really sure if the 76ers really need a players coach. Maybe they realized that they won’t win anything anyways without trading Simmons/Embiid and getting rid of Horford/Harris ...

Some people think coaches play the game. Doc adjustments and lineups were fine it's not his fault George quit and the team didn't want to play.

Funny how he was a genius the year before when the Clippers overachieved and a year later he apparehently forgot everything he knew about basketball

Rivers barely won a playoff series with stacked teams ... how the hell can you expect him to win with an underdog?

I agree Brooklyn would've been a great fit with the talent they have there. Would've required less coaching and more managing, which is Doc's strength.

Doc rivers played in the NBA for 14 and has coached for 21 years. Thats what 35 years in the game but yet he's not an x and o's guy? I have to wonder if there is some sort of racial component behind this criticism

Why not give Ty Lue a shot? Rivers has made bad decisions in big playoff games over and over again.

Have you seen his press conferences? The dude had zero clue what he was doing as a coach he actually had to take time away from coaching because he was having panic attacks.
