I posted this in the trade thread but O think it's worth saying again. Danny said that he and the ownership except the fact that we are going to be a tax paying team next season. (I think he is saying that our starters will all be back). Danny said that a lot of work needed to be done, and that we are not good enough. (I think that he is saying that he dropped the ball on such a weak bench, and that the vets we did have on the bench (Wannamaker, Semi weren't good enough). He also said that a healthy Kemba and Hayward would be a big difference. (In my mind, that means he feels we are pretty close, and that our top players, (Kemba, Brown, Hayward, Tatum, Theis, Smart, R. Will, G. Will., Kanter and Langford will all be back, if Hayward and Kanter pick up their options.) He wants the bench to be better, but not necessarily improved by expensive veteran players, but by better younger players, that we have longer control of. I feel that Wannamaker, Semi, Green, Edwards, Poirier, Waters and Fall are on the hot seat. He couldn't come right out and say this guy is gone, or that guy is going to be released or traded, but the writing is on the wall. Notice has been given.
1) Wannamaker, Semi and Green are easily released or just not offered a contract, which doesn't cost us an asset to move, and can be replaced by the 3 first round picks. Regardless of who we pick, that in of it's self will be an upgrade to players that are an NBA talent and SHOULD be on an NBA roster vs players that we currently have that aren't and shouldn't be. I have been advocating for Saddiq Bey, Tre Jones, and Daniel Oturu to replace these three and they would be a huge upgrade in talent, with 4-5 years control over them and just a small uptick difference in the salaries.
2) That would leave Poirier, Fall, Edwards and Waters. It will probably come down to a training camp battle between Poirier vs Fall and Edwards vs Waters for 2 roster spots. If Waters and Fall win then we will have to trade or release Poirier and Edwards.
