They ban all major US social media but the US still allows Chinese social media, but with some progress made recently (banning TikTok & WeChat).

Chinese citizens are allowed to buy foreign property across the world while foreign buyers like us can't buy jack there.

Chinese companies are allowed to be exchanged on stock markets all over the world while no foreign companies are allowed on the Chinese stock market.

They steal IP at unprecedented levels and have no respect for copyright laws. They plant these undercover PhD students and profs all over the world to swing over their research for the benefit of the CCP.

They are the biggest abusers of currency manipulation. The CCP can also control the narratives as we've seen with their BS GDP numbers.

They run a shady organ harvesting business with no repercussions. They continue to violate every human right in the book, yet they hold seats in the UN.

China is reaching crazy levels of nationalism and they're nothing but a ticking time bomb

Trump has no power or ability to suddenly stop the awfulness of china without starting a nuclear war, he really only tries to accelerate the cultural conflict and xenophobia to serve his own needs. Also our democracy collapsing might not give us the best moral high ground from which to judge china.

Definetly cool to hear gobert speak up on this though

I can't say I agree with this but this is definitely a view I haven't considered.

Trump has been decoupling our economy from China for a few years now. The fake news won't talk about it. He has done many things including tariffs on China, eliminating the NAFTA loop hole in which China would send exports to Mexico and Canada and then they would assemble and ship it into the US in order to by pass US duties. The USMCA killed that loop hole and it also increased the percentage of North American made parts required to 75% in order to qualify for duty free status. That is just a tiny percent of the actions he has taken. He has done many more things including signing an executive order yesterday to expedite the restart of our domestic rare earth mineral (and other mineral) industries here in the US. China controls most of the rare earth minerals industry. You won't hear it from the media though. He has also signed various other trade deals with the other Asian countries in order to prepare for the decoupling of China.

Anyways good on Gobert. Beijing Bron must be pissed.

Of all the issues to bash China and laud Trump over, treatment of Muslims is not the issue I'd choose.

No, Trump hasn't (yet) proposed genocide or re-education of Muslims as Xi has done. He only campaigned on banning Muslims from entering the country and proposed such as President until a 3rd or 4th watered down attempt was finally declared Constitutional. Of course, it was reported that in private, Trump applauded Xi's actions against Muslims.

Trump's done some things China doesn't like, like tariffs, but he's done far more things they like, like withdrawing from TPP (China doesn't want a Pacific Rim-North America trade block that excludes them), pulling troops out of the region, and dismantling the institutions and relationships America has built over the last 65 years to exercise soft power across the world.

For example, Trump complains about WHO, but instead of asserting US control over the organization, he wants to leave and give it to China for free so they can decide world health priorities, and benefit institutionally (Chinese Universities, Chinese healthcare system) and financially (being able to direct more funding to diseases and regions they care about) from being the leader of scientific bodies. We created these organizations. We still have the most say (despite the fake news out of the White House arguing otherwise), but Trump wants to give away for free to China these organization we've spent decades building and benefiting from.

Proud of Gobert for this noble act.

Disgusting how NBA celebrities want the viewers to empathize with their (rightful) struggles, yet won't say anything about the evil Chinese human rights violates.

The things they're doing to those Muslim Chinese is crazy. Absolutely evil and crazy. And the world just ignored it completely. Like zilch, Nada.

He likes Modi for crying out loud. Modi does the similar crap China does, but they dont like Pakistan so its all good for some folks. Image

Glad someone mentioned Modi, because he's what Trump aspires to be, and is right there with Xi in how his government suppresses minorities in India, right down to stripping them of citizenship and building concentration camps. Yet the NBA, through Vivek, is building up an entire network in India, just like they have done in China.

The NBA just loves their blood money from authoritarian leaders who ethnically cleanse minority groups.

I can respect Rudy Gobert for speaking out and taking a stance. I hope others find the courage to do the same, but don't fault those who are unable or unwilling to do the same.

As for the few posts talkings about Modi, I've been discussing the similarities between Modi and Trump, their affection towards each other, for a while now. Modi's Hindutva ideologies, authored by Hitler aficionados, have cultivated a frightening religious intolerance in the country, best exemplified by the destruction of Babri Mosque. Modi's support and empowerment of Amit Shah and Yogi Adityanath, two disdainful and unwavering anti-Muslim, Hindu hegemony adherents highlights his vision of India, and appears to parallel Trump's vision. Xi Jinping is no different. He has a history of inciting Hindu-Muslim animosity, and his Hindu nationalist stance is concerning for the 20 percent of Indians who are not Hindu. With the demonization of religious minorities in India is hitting a pinnacle, it's not shocking to see Trump enamored with Modi's right-wing populism.

The BJP's plans to administer the NRC (National Register of Citizens) nationwide is increasingly disturbing, and something I'm certain Trump has suggested at some juncture. I believe they're building 10+ detention camps for anyone who does not appear on the NRC. This is guaranteed to transform into a massive humanitarian crisis, and the population of detainees would surpass China's Uighur internment. To make matters worse, the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act), coupled with the NRC, will displace a frightening number of people. All of the BJP's recent moves are establishing Muslims as second class citizens.

I really dislike the man (Modi), and his politics have gone largely unnoticed internationally. His barbaric treatment of Kashmir barely garnered any attention. We're talking about the complete lockdown of over 7 million people (67% Muslim population), essentially erasing the statehood of India's only Muslim-majority state (Jammu and Kashmir). Its special status and autonomy had been enshrined in the constitution for various completely valid reasons. However, Modi's government has countless missteps outside his Hindutva predilections, which the population is willing to excuse. The Indian economic plunge is larger than any other nation, the economy contracting by roughly 25%; India was one of the world’s worst-performing economies prior to COVID-19, so we can't blame the pandemic here either.

i dont know why people singling out Lebron in this situation, you could just pick out a random name and get upset with him and it will make as much sense

for example, Robert Favalli from Colorado doesnt care about the Uyghurs problems as much as playing guitar in his basement, that guy makes me sick

I think the difference is that LeBron has a platform to make change / his voice heard - uses that platform for certain issues - and then turns a blind eye on others when speaking out against them would still be in line with speaking out against the issues he does comment on (likely because of how he'd be monetarily impacted from speaking out against the second set of issues).

Right or wrong It sends the message of "social justice issues matter and social justices should be spoken out against - unless it impacts my wallet".

*Now I'm not saying LeBron has to speak out against everything and everyone unjust, just pointing out that his actions makes
some people question his sincerity to the issues he claims to care about (and this is the double-edged nature of being famous and having a platform to speak).

This is patently false. Almost every statement. Standing up to Islamic terrorism and expression of Hindu ideology is of-course demonized to gloss over every transgression in the name of minority rights and then cry victimhood when Hindus retaliate? The revival of Hindutva can entirely be attributed to suppression of the Hindu rights that was endemic of every left leaning Govt since the Indian Independence to cater for minority votes. So much so that islamic terrorist activities, grooming, bullying etc was all swept under the rug for vote-bank appeasement. The Babri Mosque? Lmao. What just happended in the case of Hagia Sophia? There are 100s of mosques all over India, nay the world built on top of original places of worship after violent subjugation and genocide of local populations. Babri was one such for which the primary archeologist - which famously included a Muslim archeologist have confirmed

https://www.outlookindia.com/website/story/india-news-i-feel-vindicated-kk-muhammed-on-supreme-court-verdict-on-ayodhya/342004
Finally, I'll wait for any citation of Hindu invasions in the past 10,000 years or so as opposed to the barbaric genocidal invasions imposed on the Indian sub-continent.

The NRC is something that is present in every damn country in the world. A citizen's register. Something that is essential to a modern state for distribution of govt resources, keeping track of citizen information etc. A nation state of 1.3 billion people cannot simply afford. to this day, citizenship hasn't been snatched from anyone. Again, it's clear from your statements that you prefer an anarchic leftist state where the Hindus are subjugated an ultimately wiped out.
I really dislike the man (Modi).

This statement says it all about your neutrality. You talk about Kashmir without mentioning the genocide of the Pandits and a complete lack of understanding of the the burden of terrorism in the valley.
https://eurasiantimes.com/indian-media-wakes-up-after-30-years-to-cover-kashmiri-pandit-genocide/
India warned the world for decades about the dangers of islamic terrorism and suffered economic, political and humanitarian crises upon crises as a result. Finally after Sept 11 and other global terrorist attacks, Tony Blair and others accepted it.

Finally not a single word about state sponsored terrorism from the hotbed of jihad next to India - a failed nuclear state hell bent on wiping out Hindus (Wherein the minority population stands below 2%). A stark picture of genocide that the world has ignored. every day Hindu girls are kidnapped and poor Christians are accused of blasphemy to be executed. Guess the population trends of minorities in the 2 countries. In India, the minority population jumps from around 7% to more than 20%. whereas in Pakistan, it falls to below 2% from 25%. The refugee population in India went up by 17% according to the UNHRC. These also include the muslim rohingya whom the world ignored, but India took in despite the rohingya being anti-Hindu. Doesn't fit your agenda though.
https://www.unhcr.org/be/wp-content/uploads/sites/46/2020/07/Global-Trends-Report-2019.pdf
Yet, you have the audacity to slander and spew such accusations. Finally, do you have any idea what the CAA is? The CAA offers quick statehood to the minorities being persecuted in the countries that border India. In-short you openly call for these people to be wiped out. Akin to Xi. slow clap.
