Not running at a high pace and not shooting high volume of 3s are OK if you score on high FG% while playing good defense, a good example is the Lakers.

That said, this is why Doc is the perfect coach for us. Because he doesnt try 2 make us like Heat or Rox.

Hopefully he can figure out how to turn this roster into a top 3 defensive team

I'm happy with this hire as Doc has at least won a championship and knows how the east works. One of the reasons i wanted Lue was because he'd climbed the mountain and won a title..Doc has done the same without the shadow of Lebron hanging over him so i'm cool tbh :D .

Alvin Gentry for his offense and what about Nate Mccmillen as defensive coach? I think it would be great to have experienced guys like them on the bench next to Doc tbh.

I rather have Mike than doc if I were a sixers fan.

At this point the sentiment I can see from sixers fan is anyone of MDA, Lue or Doc are big upgrades over Brett so its a win eitherway

Yes! Finally a good thing! I didn't even think of him until the Clippers let him go. Much better than Pringles or Lue in my opinion. I absolutely love Doc Rivers as a player and coach. This will be great for both Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. He should get Harris back on track too. These guys are going to like playing for him. I also like the idea of improvement out of Shake and Mattise. I'm excited!

They've both won a title once. The difference is that while Ty remains somewhat unproven, Doc Rivers has PROVEN to be a complete choke job.

Where Rivers occasionally falls short is in making mid-series adjustments in the playoffs. Some coaches prefer to stick the game plan they tried to perfect all year and trust their team will eventually win with their bread-and-butter strategy. Rivers fits under that category. Other coaches throw everything at the wall and try to manufacture any advantage they can as they see what works and what doesn’t over the course of a series. Carlisle has a reputation for being a coach that adjusts on the fly, and Toronto’s Nick Nurse famously experimented with a variety of strategies last year during the Raptors’ run to an unlikely championship.

Same category Brett falls into. But Brett was more stubborn

Lue adjusts better, from what Ive read.

But if I have to between between Lue or Doc on who will get Biid and Ben to get scared straight, it will be Doc.

And from the grapevine, it sounds like Embiid will throw a tantrum 2.0 if we ever hire Lue.

Really not sure where you are hearing that stuff about Embiid not wanting Lue. That is pure speculation. Again, Lue is not associated with clutch so I don't get why you think he'll prefer Simmons.

Been trying to get insights on the doc hiring from Clips media. I tried Locked on podcast with the Clips and this.

Seems like Clips (Balmer) was emotional and went into a recency bias in firing doc.

Clips never really wanted to play in the bubble. Lou will even went to a strip club in the middle of the bubble

The Clips doesn’t have an answer to Jokic with either Harell or Zubac. Then Playoff P became Pandemic P

So the Clips is on a do or die season next year, they were really pressured. Maybe they should have just retained Doc, because he is one of the best coaches in the league while he knows the problem via his experience? Doc just had one of his greatest coaching season in 2018-2019, so it’s not like he has lost his touch.

Star center Joel Embiid was opposed to the idea of Lue coaching the team, according to league sources familiar with the situation. Sources said that Embiid felt that Lue was adjacent to Klutch Sports and was ‘resistant’ to the prospect of someone with a pre-existing relationship with Ben Simmons coaching the team.

Meanwhile, Simmons had advocated for Lue. League sources told The Painted Lines’ Brian Jacobs that Lue had been their primary choice since deliberation about coaching changes began.

The earlier source I had for Lue to Sixers was from Ben’s camp also btw. Then this also explains why Embiid wanted MDA (LOL).

In the end, it’s all good since Biid looks happy that we hired Doc Rivers. We just need to get him happy

Only place I've seen that, didn't hear that from fl311 either who seems to have connections to Embiid and would have definitely mentioned that.

Have you heard reports of Embiid endorsing Lue? i hear him endoring MDA, when we were choosing between the two.

We’ll never know. Just stay open minded.

Why lol? It's one source. Our insider didn't mention it at all, and seemed to want Lue as well, and was pretty upset about D'Antoni. The idea that Embiid wanted D'Antoni didn't add up.

Can't say I'm excited about this move and was onboard with D'Antoni because of what it would have done for Simmons. I know he's flawed but atleast there would have been an offensive plan. That said, I want the Sixers to move on from Embiid because his value is at the max it will ever be and he has all the warning signs of a steep decline. He has an injury history, is out of shape all the time, doesn't have a leadership mentality, and didn't look like a #1 option on a team after that disaster of a playoff series.

Rivers didn't get a position in the front office but I'm sure he will because he has a five year deal and once they under achieve, they can put the blame on Brand and promote Doc. It's just a constant circus with this team with no clear vision.

that's exactly why i thought MDA would be a good thing for sixers. You at least know he's going to put together a plan. With Doc I am not sure what's he excels at.

Maybe. But think about it. Painted lines source and Keith’s source were in line. Between Lue and MDA, Biid prefer MDA. We will never know who has more credibility unless you know first hand what is going on.

For now, let’s just be happy that Biid sound happy that we signed Rivers over Lue and MDA.

Doc is one of the better coaches in the league.

Top 5 potential with right roster.

going by his history, doc has proven to be a good coach for a team w/ zero expectations. with expectations? he barely won in 08 but after that? a lot of failures including three 3-1 blown leads.

do the sixers have expectations next year? how does this play out? i really have no clue. its almost like he is here as a last ditch effort to make ben and joel work.
