Crazy that Trump and his wife got Covid-19 but not surprised.

We can stem all this ourselves with minimal government intervention if people cared enough. That's probably too idealistic though.
Except with a highly infectious virus such as this, you CAN'T get rid of it no matter what you do which is why its pointless to try and we should just live with it rather than continuing to stay in constant fear of a virus that doesn't affect the vast majority of people who get it in any significant way. The answer has always been to protect the most vulnerable and for the general population to get on with life.
We know that the virus hit long term care facilities the hardest and they makeup like 80% of all virus deaths in Canada, so by now we should have a great plan that we can put into action immediately to protect those people if infections start increasing dramatically. Outside of needing to do that, let the rest of the general population get back to a mostly normal life instead of trying to keep people in neverending fear of a mostly non-lethal virus.
We're over 6 months in this pandemic and there's still only 161,000 confirmed cases and 9,300 virus deaths in Canada OUT OF A POPULATION OF 37 MILLION with Ontario and Quebec accounting for 93% of all those deaths and THAT is what we're throwing ourselves into neverending panic over?
How about no...I don't want to know what its like to have the virus so I'm gonna do whatever it takes to NOT get the virus. We CAN do something about it...and there are public health measures in place to help curb the spread...so it isn't pointless.

The guy has all of the best medical available to him right now. At this moment they probably have him on some remdesivir, convalescent plasma and even hydroxychloroquine (his personal request). He won't likely suffer like regular people his age with less access to good medical care. In that case...he will likely have an uncomplicated course then gloat about how having covid was nothing and it's still a hoax.

I'm convinced that Trump "catching" it now is an election tactic. It'll keep him from speaking in public for 2 weeks and then as the comment above me says, he'll emerge painting himself as victorious over the deadly "China flu".

maybe, but he's still fat and old. not a good combination.
regardless, it won't help him. there's 2 weeks till the election, he's down 10+ in the polls and he's not making that up in 2 weeks once he's out of quarantine. there's more october surprises to come as well.
people's brains are broken after 2016. assuming he doesn't just urge on complete anarchy, he's gonna lose decisively and the gop are gonna lose the house/senate.

I hope that is the case...but nothing ever seems to hurt him...and what you would expect that happens which should hurt him politically doesn't usually end up doing so. For all we know...Trump having covid could end up being a sympathy play...who knows...

we're not at the end of the story yet. karma can take a while
but i can definitely see that argument and the idea that he may well somehow benefit from this, but the only people that would feel any real sympathy already support him. and just because someone feels sympathy about not dying doesn't mean they'll vote for him now lol. and besides, there aren't enough of those people to win him this election. he needs to switch over already committed biden supporters at this point. and i don't think that's happening. those people were just voting against clinton.

Is it at all possible the election gets postponed because of this? The cynical part of me wonders if this is all a political stunt...and he is pulling this in an effort to move or get rid of the election.

It IS pointless when the virus so many people are afraid of mostly only kills the most sick and the weak. Compare that to the government response to this virus that affects THE ENTIRE POPULATION in a very bad way. If you're at least decently healthy the chances of you dying from the virus is extremely low. Heck the chances of you catching the virus to begin with is extremely low as well when if we're talking confirmed cases only 0.004% of Canada's 37 million population has gotten it. Even if you multiply that number by 10x to account for people who had the virus, but didn't know they had it that's still only 4% of Canada's population after all this time.
People are really losing their minds over a virus that you have a very low chance of getting to begin with and have a near zero chance of dying from? If THIS is the response to such a relatively minor virus, I can't imagine how completely destroyed the entire world will be if we actually get a virus or infection that truly does kill many people of all ages. Say goodbye to modern civilization in that case I guess.

Please go down to one of the assessment centres and beg everyone waiting in line to cough in your face if the virus is that minor to you.
C'mon tough guy...show us you are willing back to up your interpretation of the numbers. Until then...stay inside and stay safe. You aren't dumb enough and you are not brave enough to do it. Until you do that and show us evidence of you doing it...then you are no different than me.

yes, it's easy to be cynical about this. but it doesn't make much sense. trump needs to be spending as much of the next few weeks out there having rallies, etc. so he wouldn't fake this. he hates being cooped up.
and no, the election date is set constitutionally. he can't change it

Problem is is that we have 2.5 hospital beds per thousand people, so if, say, 4% of the population gets it (40 per thousand) and 7.5% of them need to go to the ICU, we're using all our ICU beds for covid patients.
Anyway, people are really getting their panties in a knot about this. People are causing themselves more suffering by stressing about the things they have to do differently. Take some time bro. Enjoy some basketball, shoot the **** with the people on this board. Things will be fine.

Boris Johnson had a pretty tough time with it and he is 18 years younger and in better shape. Doctors know how to treat it better now but it still has to be concerning for him.

The sympathy play ignores the 200K+ dead.
The only play Trump got is he is using this "positive test" to allow him to pivot on Covid-19 strategy - he will recover from the virus and have an enlightenment and "promises" much more federal response to this pandemic - to sway voters last min.
There are 31 days to election. Let's see if there is enough time for him to "recover" if he really caught it.

He can use this to show that the China virus is just a harmless democrat hoax and that the economy can open up full swing.

What's your point? I never said he was an elite athlete. I said he is in better shape then Donald Trump. He often cycles to work, even before he had COVID 19. Try and fine Trump doing anything remotely active.

Ontario government made an adjustment to reported deaths. "There were 74 deaths reported for cases that occurred in the spring or summer and are now being recorded as part of a data review and data cleaning initiative." On average there are about 300 deaths in Ontario every day. Data is submitted even in normal times. Its seems clear the Ontario government went out of their way to review ALL deaths in order to increase the aggregate with indirect cases. The timing of this is not surprising at all.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.
