I think it's more likely he picks up his $27 mil option.

Offer him $30 mil one year.

IIRC, he has to decide on his his option before FA starts. Hawks can't talk to his agent before FA starts ergo, we can't offer him anything or else tampering.

Quite honestly, I think we're in the perfect spot. Draft Avdija. Secondary ball handler, very crafty, and versatile. You don't even have to start him. Treat him like Manu/Iggy and bring him off the bench. He can easily get 30 minutes a night by playing him like your backup PG.

I would even be okay with Toppin, but he's going to need serious work on his jumper..

Question... Would you trade up to get Edwards? or is everybody ok with Reddish as the Hawks' SG of the future?

Not worth the trade up.

:D
My choice is still Tyrese Haliburton. He would be a great back up for Trae and play some 2 guard.
He's said to have a high IQ. Ge can handle the ball, play defense and, most important to me, he
has shown that he can make his free throws !!

He may not make it to #6. If he's gone, I have no other favorite. Lots and lots of "pretty good"
prospects in this year's draft. I just believe Tyrese fits exactly what the Hawks needs...

Tyrese Haliburton serves as popular early fit with Atlanta Hawks

The first projections are in.

“If we stay at No. 6, we’re going to take the player we think is going to be the best player long-term,” Schlenk said. “If we create competition with our other young players because they play the same position, there’s nothing wrong with that. That’s healthy.”

Schlenk told 92.9 The Game on Friday morning that “there are about seven guys that we’re really going to focus on.”

My stab at the 7 guys if we stand pat. (In no particular order).

1. Okongwu
2. Okoro
3. Haliburton
4. Deni
5. Saddiq Bey (call me crazy but this is Schlenk’s dark horse target, this kid is gonna impact the game HARD)
6. Patrick Williams
7. Devin Vassell

I’d be happy with any really but I’ve targeted Okongwu for the longest.

BPA, get it Schlenk!

1. Okoro
2. Okongwu
3. Hali
4. Hayes
5. Vassell
6. Deni
7. Patrick Williams

No order other than Okoro and Okongwu who I want the most. I don’t expect any reaches.

NBA Draft 2020: Best-case scenarios for all 30 franchises

Atlanta Hawks – Draft either Devin Vassell or Tyrese Haliburton at No. 6

With Trae Young and John Collins cemented as cornerstones of the franchises, the Hawks will be looking to see which position could use most improvement. They’ll experiment with Clint Capella at center (his three years left on his deal makes him hard to move) next season, while wing forwards Cam Reddish and DeAndre Hunter showed flashes as a rookie.

Considering that this is the worst defensive unit in the league this past season, it makes sense to get the best available defender in the draft, which would be Vassell from Florida State. But he may [complicate] things for both Reddish and Hunter on the wings.

The other option is Haliburton, who would take needed pressure for the 6’1 Young at point and leading the offense. The Cyclone guard is big enough to defend bigger guards and can play off-ball as well. Either one would make great sense at No. 6.

Would Atlanta consider Hayward and 14 for 6?

No.
Too far to move down.
Uses up too much of our capspace on a guy with a 1 year deal to move down valuable spots.

Yeah I get it and Hayward has his risks. My only counter is that this is a pretty lateral draft after the top 3-4 picks and there isn't many Hayward types in free agency.

The draft may be 'lateral' but there are still tiers to the prospects. The Hawks are said to have 7 players (minus Ball, Edwards and Wiseman) on their draft board for the #6 pick.
You are right, there is no FA types on the market who the Hawks will sign for $34 million.
Boston will need to provide an actual incentive for us to take Hayward.

About the way I see it. Think Avdija will be gone and I would add OO to the list

Return to Atlanta Hawks
