Dipo
Lauri

Two guys that should fit in with RJ & Mitch & are coming off terrible seasons

Lauri yes, dipo? Nah

Lauri with rj and mitch is a great fit. A spread 4 with decent passing.

Oladipo is the playmaker we need though. He could be our point guard too. Something like

Dipo, Hield, RJ, Lauri, Mitch

Jrue, Dipo, RJ, Lauri, Mitch

I know how this isn't going to happen though and probably it isn't even a talented enough team in the playoffs.

Hield was on my mind too but as the 6th man in this scenario.

Ideally I’d like to have only 1 poor defender on the floor at a time and 1 poor shooter on the floor at a time.

Hayes
Dipo Hield
RJ (maybe) OPJ
Lauri
Mitch

My reason for the moves is for the long term but it satiates the MSG need for competitiveness now.

Not gonna happen but that’s probably what it would look like

Towns would be the last guy Thibs would want lol. Towns unwillingness to buy into Thibs philosophy in Minny is what got Thibs fired. Why would Thibs want to relive that in NY?

Also, of all the so called superstar players in the NBA is there one player that has done less to help his team win than Towns? IF the Wolves move on from Towns it would not be because of lack of talent but rather the belief/realization that you simply can't win with him as your best player. If thats the case why would that change if Towns was in NY? And as such, why would the Knicks want to give up everything and the kitchen sink to get Towns?

As a comp...Carmelo Anthony came to NY with a history of at least being able to lead his team to 50 win seasons. Towns will be coming to NY shown that he can't but lead his teams to 30 win seasons. And NY most definitely would have to give up more for Towns than they did for Anthony.

Well now I know this dude is making stuff up. There is zero chance Towns and Thibs want anything to do with each other again. Towns hated Thibs sooooooo much.

Its very unlikely that we get Dipo and Lauri and keep all our own picks, RJ and Mitch.

They had an awful last season. But they still have good trade value.

What about this trades:

Oladipo for #8 pick + Frank
Lauri + Felicio + Thaddeus for Dallas Picks + Randle. Cut Felicio.
Fred for 90/5 deal
Dotson for 15/3 deal (birds rights)
Taj for Vet min
MLE player

Fred/Dennis/Rookie PG
Oladipo/Dotson/Rookie wing
RJ/Knox/MLE player
Lauri/Thad/Iggy
Mitch/TAJ/Rookie Big/Wooten

Try to trade up or buy 20-35 and get 3 rookies from this year's draft. I assume picks will be cheap. A PG, a wing and a big.

Right the only way Towns would be interesting to me would be as a free agent signing. Sometimes I wonder how he'd look next to Mitch ..theoretically each could shore up the other's weaknesses.

How about Randle and a pick for Hield?

I'm sure we can get a deal done for Dipo without giving up #8. I'd rather just do Knox + Frank + 38 + Dallas 2023 Pick for Dipo.

I'd make it 27 and the 2021 Dallas Pick if they threw in Warren.

Dipo just hasn't looked the same since the injuries and I am not sure he is really a great fit anyway.

No way would i give up #8 for him. Pass unless they are just giving him away. It's kinda pointless to give up much for him when he will be a free agent anyway and is a huge injury risk.

Correct. The chances of him being a max cat is slim right now so there is no real benefit of trading for his bird rights which is probably the major benefit of making a trade for someone instead of waiting 1 year for free agency. The most would be something like DSJr and something around the Clippers pick and a protected Dallas pick and that depends on how he checks out health wise.

I also think it would be an expensive deal. I am trying to prepare myself for some risky and expensive trades.

I think the Front Office wants 3 other big-name players to complete the RJ and Mitch starting team.

I hope they give up the vet at the end of their careers. I know CP3 can be useful. But its too risky. Especially if we have to give away assets. Players like Blake, WB and Love can be nightmares if we dont get picks in the deal.

I agree Oladipo is playing really poorly and we don't know if he can be his old self again. But I think desperate teams will try to take the risk. Also, I think Indiana would rather get a win-now player than picks. They already have an experienced Brogdon, Warren, Sabonis e Myles core. They would not have cap space even without Oladipo on the books and they are not a big market team to get a nice FA. Its not an easy deal for us.

Maybe we could include Randle+Mitch and acquire Turner in a bigger deal. Not saying that's a good move, but it could be interesting for them.

I am not okay trading significant assets for Dipo, who didn't look great last year, is coming off an injury, and will be a free agent after a year. I will take a liar if it costs us close to nothing (say Smith and Randle), but not if it costs us picks or prospects. I am a big fan of Lauri and think he compliments Mitch well. Would be willing to scale up an offer for him, but he will also get paid soon, so not willing to overdo it. Both decent trade targets, but only for the right price, which shouldn't be too high.
