I don't think there's any doubt about all that. He knew.

He knew. He spread it willingly.

Trump and many of those around him are Dunning-Kruger types of people. In this case, it goes beyond a lack of critical self-appraisal and extends into the realm of magical thinking.

Magical thinking has its value in limited personal applications when it comes to things like developing your visualization skills and prayer, but it is typically detrimental to a person's reasoning skills and decision making faculties.

Trump lives in a world created out of magical thinking that does not allow room in his consciousness for anything that does not reinforce his POV which happens to be a perverse mutation of human vanity. If it is not about his glory, it does not exist.

In that realm of mind, science is not relevant. Only what fits your narrative is real to Trump and many of his associates and certainly Cult 45.

So covid was never truly real for Trump and once it got closer to home and his inner circle was getting infected, I do believe he thought he would not contract this virus. There is a layer of stupidity in this man that is so deep and irrational that he didn't think he'd get it.

But once he felt he may have it, that sort of POV still operates with the belief that as long as I don't have symptoms I'm OK. So if he already knew he was positive, he'd still be likely to brush it off and not quarantine or tell the public as long as he could get away with being an asymptomatic carrier and spreader.

IOW, Trump surely knew and just doesn't care about ANYONE, but himself. So campaigning was the priority over everything else, safety be damned. It only became real to him the moment he got sick himself. That's how he rolls.

I think Trump's condition is degrading. NY Times reporting his oxygen levels dropped further and he was administerered steroids. I'm not a medical person, so can anyone comment on this? I'm reading elsewhere this is usually only done for severely ill covid patients, not moderately or mildly ill patients

Very interesting about him taking dexamethasone which is the most powerful anti-inflammatory medication you can take (it blocks the entire arachidonic acid pathway which is the inflammatory mediator path.) It's a glucocorticoid- better known as a steroid to the masses (not the anabolic type!)

Now dexamethasone has been utilized as early as April as they found it really helps decrease the overall level of mortality (deaths) in severely ill patients and has shown some promise to help patients wean off mechanical ventilation. If you're mechanically ventilated, you're in the ICU section of the hospital so it's already a grim prognosis. Being on dexamethasone doesn't definitively guarantee one's survival, it just shows a reduction in mortality and a decrease in hospital stay in those that do recover.

The problem is he's in a very high risk demographic being older than 65 (he's almost 75 years old now which makes him classified as a vulnerable patient.) I don't know if he has any comorbidities- specifically any respiratory issues which would make him at the highest risk level of having a severe, possibly fatal infection.

Thus there's two ways to look at it- he's the leader of the free world and the multidisciplinary team looking after him have decided even with his mild symptoms that they want to throw everything at him- aka a drug cocktail which wouldn't be utilized by any physician unless a patient was decompensating/getting worse upon their admission. But because of who he is, they could easily make an exception and thus also the reason they provided him with that monoclonal antibody drug (Regeneron) that hasn't even been approved by the FDA yet (still in clinical trial testing.) The other possibility is his prognosis is a lot more severe than they're making it out to be.

I guess we'll see soon enough.

We’re definitely not getting the full story. If he was getting better and ready for discharge then tomorrow, we’d be tweeting videos etc.

Don't worry, Trump is getting the best medical care that $750 can buy. He'll likely survive due to the wonderful skills of our socialist doctors.

Guess he is over it almost. Hope the virus having little impact on him is not any kind of boon to his campaign.

Comment from an alleged doctor in the comments section. I’ve read his comments before and seems legit to me. FWIW

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-oxygen-coronavirus-health-update_n_5f79e84ec5b64b480aaf52da

A bit of medical information from a doctor that has treated many Covid patients. A low oxygen saturation would typically mean that he already has viral pneumonia. Most patients do not get that, and those that do have a very serious course. If you get Covid pneumonia, you can have various outcomes ranging from a week or two of serious illness to death. That said, it is not possible to know whether the oxygen saturation of 93-95% definitely indicates this. Many patients have mildly decreased saturations due to baseline chronic lung disease, and obese patients who don’t exercise often have poor lung expansion due to the weight of their own chest wall, causing minor decreases that will resolve with a few deep breaths. If Trump is going to get very sick, it will likely happen around Tuesday-Thursday. If he isn’t out of hospital by Thursday, he is going to be sick for a month or more.

He paid $750 in taxes and gets a five room presidential suite at the Walter Reed facility so I'd say he's getting a real bang for his buck
