Playoffs are about who are your best players.

Detroit did it in 2004

True, I wouldn't say no shot, just more like a once in every 30-40 years shot if you pull off a miracle. The Heat almost got there. But now they need some sort of Lebron or AD freak injury and even then idk. Point stands though. It's a stars league.

even then, the game is different now than 16 yrs ago, you can't build around defense like they did anymore. So who knows if it's possible in the modern game. So far it hasn't been and with the advent of the super team era it seems more unlikely than ever

Its never possible until its done. I dont what happened in Detroit as a miracle, They were the better team. Trends are are made and changed constantly. Now with he Lakers success teams might start looking away from small ball and back to big (but skilled) front lines...

I think Miami needs it's own "Rasheed Wallace"- if they had that they could contend with anybody right now. I also think they were ahead of the curve but you can see that with how the youngins (like Herro)are finally starting to show that they human.

Detroit was the better team but I think if you built a team like that today, with that same framework of defensive top priority, it would fail. They held the lakers to 68 and 75 points in a couple of those games and they never cracked 100. You just aren't doing that in the modern game, the refs call the games too tight and the shooters are too good

Also they were fortunate that Karl Malone got that knee injury during the season and then again in game 3 of the finals

like you said though the game and trends do change and something like what happened in 04 is bound to happen again eventually. but when it does I will see it as a rare anomaly and not a model that gives you the best chance to win

Fair enough although I cited the Detroit model in a more general sense. Miami emphasizes defense but they have a very well balanced offense too, I just think they need another big besides Bam and their youth need some more experience.

Yeah it is a bit annoying how they do that. I think the tweet is pretty cool though. Don’t think that was a coincidence at all (not lebron scoring but when the 81 point happened)

Even before that game AD has been saying that Kobe making his presence felt in terms of coincidence of certain stats and scores.

Lakers also scored 124 points wearing Mamba uniforms.

While this could be overblown it is clear Lakers trying to win this for Kobe and Gigi.

I'm not even sure Kobe would be rooting for LeBron. He seemed too real for that shtshow.

Two great performances and some big help from the supporting cast has made LAL look dominant.

Any of these things can go away for a game or two, so idk why all the pundits are assuming it’s over. Yes, MIA would have to at least match the output from last game, but they’re a good team. They didn’t get here by accident

Bro it's over, Miami are not gonna be able to compete without Bam and Dragic.

Finals haven't been good since 2016 if we're being honest.

Its not over anymore than it was going into the series. LAL was the favorites and they obviously still are. MIA wins tonight and it’s a series again.

LeBron trying to win the Finals MVP over AD will backfire on the Lakers.
