However, my best guess is he will be available at 17 and I have strong doubts about the Wolves snatching him up. Personally I'd much prefer a Pokusevski, Bey by 2, Tyrell Terry, Nesmith pick.

Because NBA teams never get it wrong?

Oh they get it wrong, but I just have extreme difficulty seeing Maxey as an All Star. Those don't grow on trees in the NBA. I won't declare anybody from this draft a likely all star, but I would give Edwards, Ball, Wiseman, Okongwu, Deni, Toppin, and Hayes for example a better chance than Maxey. When I was supporting Clarke for the draft at pick 11 last year I never once mentioned him as an all star. Too much hyperbole and love over mid-round draft picks for my taste.

Why must a prospect be picked in the top 5 to become an all-star? There are plenty of past examples to debunk that.

Of those three skills Rosas listed, which fit Edwards?

He's known more for being a scorer than playmaker. His defense has been questioned -- effort level on a night basis is not there. I suppose you could say passion, but that seemed to depend on the opposition. For every Michigan State there was a Dayton.

He’s not a knock down shooter, but he shoots respectable enough to NOT take away from the rest of his game while on the floor. I notice he shot better from the arc the 2nd half on the season, which demonstrates improvement in that area. Shot 48.3% from 3pt area in home games, something worth considering.

So he must have sucked incredibly badly on the road. 84% FTs on the other hand is amazing.

The both home and away games were a very small sample size. It was was 2-21 away and 14-29 at home. That high FT percentage gives my confidence that with the increase with volume and practice, his 3pt percentage could be respectable. It appears that his game in college was about playing a specific role, that did not include being a volume scorer. NBADRAFT.net compares him to OG Anunoby.

No requirement whatsoever of that. However, the likelihood goes down dramatically the further down the board you go. I would give 10-1 odds against Maxey ever becoming an all star.

I think all those skills may fit Edwards and may not fit Edwards. The jury is completely out on that one if I were on the jury.

My problem whenever somebody has bad statistics overall for stat X his supporters will come back and say well he shot corner 3s really well or his assists to turnover ratio was great on every Sunday blue moon. For those to be true he has to have other numbers that were really bad as you just showed his less than 10% from 3 on the road. Williams would likely be worthy of our pick at 17 and my best guess is somebody will take him before then.

When Edwards shot isnt falling he is basically done, when Balls shots aren’t falling he will still get near double digit rebounds and assists.
I am okay with either guy though because I think they will both be all stars eventually. Ball probably more times than Edwards.

We don't know how they apply. That is something for Rosas and staff to figure out. Maybe Edwards will be great at all the facets Rosas mentioned.

Neeva you're throwing out All Stars like Halloween candy. Most players never make an all star game in their career. Russell only got in as an injury replacement. There's a very good chance he will never make another.

Was specifically asking KG to explain his thought process behind his argument. Apparently it's something like "well, it might not NOT apply to him so you can't say it won't" which, well, I can't really argue with that.

I don't know Edwards well enough to say those things apply to him or not and neither do any of us. I think he has potential to be very good at the qualities mentioned, but just potential. That is why Rosas has his job and needs to do due diligence. I wish I could be more insightful, but how could I be? Finding the answers to these questions is where Rosas will earn his pay and keep his job.

It seemed to be that Baseline was venturing his guess that Edwards did not possess the qualities and I was just questioning that thinking. In other words I would not be quick to declare Edwards lacking in those qualities.

You can take an educated guess based on his body of work though, can't you?

You know, the thing we all generally do every time anyone posts on this website.
I think he has potential to be very good at the qualities mentioned, but just potential.

How do you know that?

So why post then?

It seemed to be that Baseline was venturing his guess that Edwards did not possess the qualities and I was just questioning that thinking. In other words I would not be quick to declare Edwards lacking in those qualities.

You didn't question, you stated. "I don't see any ill bodings for Edwards from this". That isn't a question. When pressed you followed up with "well I don't know either way so there". It's such a pointless and annoying comment to make in a discussion. If you've got something to say, say it. If you have nothing to say, stop padding your post count.

I'll ask again, how do these traits apply to Edwards? Take a guess if you need to.
