Hot Takes for 2021!

Post#1 » by Mylie10 » Wed Oct 7, 2020 3:27 pm

Give your hot take prediction for Warriors players, or the team as a whole. Also drop a hot take for other teams and players next season.

My first hot take is that I believe Draymond is going to shoot right around 36% from 3.

If we get Marc gasol for the mle we’re contending for the 1 spot
Most 4th Quarter Points in Final since 1991
1995 Shaquille O'Neal 11.5
2000 Shaquille O'Neal 11.5 (61.1% TS)
2015 Stephen Curry 10.8 (75.1% TS)
1997 Michael Jordan 10.7 (55.1% TS)

Warriors draft Wiseman and he and Wiggins + Minny's 2021 pick become the foundation for the Warriors after Steph, Klay and Dray fade away. I have not been overly impressed with any of the teams in the bubble playoffs and could see the Dubs contending for the title next year.

Gasol has already announced that he’s going to play in Spain next year for Barcelona, so he’s not coming to us - or anybody - on the MLE.

I have heard some speculation, however, that because of uncertainties regarding when seasons will start and end both here and in Spain, there’s a possibility he could play in Spain, but still join an NBA team for the playoffs. Not sure if that will actually be possible, but that would be the only way he could be a part of the Warriors.
If I don't have anything funny to say, can I still have a signature?

My hottest take is that Wiggins will be in the MIP conversation next year (if hes not considered too old for that).

General predictions:
- Damion Lee will not be a reliable rotation player. He will be next season’s McKinnie.
- Poole will be better but also not a reliable rotation player.
- Paschall will be solid but won’t take a big leap.
- Chriss will continue to make solid progress and get mild buzz in the national media from people who weren’t paying attention to us this past season.
- Looney may or may not totally fall apart physically but I think his best days are behind him unfortunately. I dont think he’ll ever be as key for us as he was when he first broke out 2-3 years ago.
- Team-wise, I think we get bounced in the 2nd round or WCF.

Yea I heard that as well. He’d be perfect here though.

It’s funny, Gasol is one of the very few elderly men that fans are cool with bringing in. Me too for that matter.

I wonder what Toronto is gonna do this off season? They have some things to figure out.

Same for the Clippers. They have some guys to weed out I think.

Warriors win the 2021 Championship with or without a big trade this offseason. Without a "huge" trade, they're still contenders as long as they have Steph, Klay and Draymond healthy. Just need to strengthen the bench a bit with little moves if they can't land Giannis.

If this happens and steph/klay are healthy... we are winning a title. 8-)

Draymond hitting 3s is a top 10 player in NBA (like he has been in the past).

I think Mychal Mulder has a pretty damn good chance of being a rotation player for this team. I like Lee, but Mulder is a legitimate high volume three point gunner. If he can sustain close to what his G-League percentages were at a similar volume per/36 minutes, he's going to have lots of opportunities to expand his game. You watch Duncan Robinson in the Finals and see the chaos that he causes when he's in motion? Mulder won't be that, but if the shot holds up, he's going to be able to make easy buckets for guys as a screener and get bigs/cutters lots of looks when defenses miscommunicate. In a small sample size, RPM rated him as a huge plus on defense and top 20 player in the league. That won't hold up, but there's the outlines of a very useful player, especially if the Warriors commit to bigger guards/wings as our primary non-Steph ball handlers. Mulder/Lee/Klay/Wiggins/Chriss could be a rampaging bench lineup.

My hot take.

IF Wiseman is available at the #2 pick, we will select him and he will win ROY in a landslide.

we need more defense and some length. We cant contend while being the worst defensive team in the league

Warriors toughest run ever/ Draymond Green will be more toxic to the Warriors this season. he will be publicly be arguing with Curry& Klay.

very hot. Wiseman can't be favored for ROY off the bat.

Yeah that's crazy talk. Steph, Dray and Klay are organically incapable of bickering. Their personalities and games mesh perfectly. They're the definition of opposites attracting in every way.

Edit: To expand even further on this hottest of hot takes. Is Curry going to complain about Dray and Klay's defense? Is Dray going to complain about Curry and Klay taking too many shots? Is Klay going to complain about Curry and Dray not passing enough? Our big 3 fit so well precisely because there is no stepping on anyone's toes. Each player's strengths covers for anothers' weaknesses.

This is a strange anecdote to bring up but I remember when Bob was negotiating Barnes' extension and the rumor floating out of the locker room was that Dray and Klay were going to be annoyed if Barnes got a bigger deal than them. They knew that they were better than Barnes. They were fine getting paid what they did vis-a-vis each other because even though they're very different players in so many ways, they recognize that they're pretty close to being on par despite their different strengths and weaknesses.
The hottest of takes...

NEXT HOT TAKE: Looney will play 90% of the games next season.

It’s said he looks healthier than he has since being a Warrior. Hopefully it holds out, because that bodes well for our lacking defense.
