That's the problem. People still remember DeRozan as a Raptor because they haven't see him play with SA.
He is now a great playmaker, excellent passer, above average defender...and like Kemba, the guy has a big smile on his face most of the time.

Kemba
DeRozan
Brown
Tatum
Baynes

If Derozan becomes a celtics i will be forced to stop watching the celtics.

He is everything celtics basketball ISNT.

I agree. That would as boring af on offense. That would be terrible. We need a rim protector and a dead set shooter wing that can defend as a priority.

once it was clear Irving was out I was hoping for getting Vucevic, and signing Rondo to the MLE.

Me too was in the vucevic over kemba camp. Oh well still can dream it

Yup would have liked Vuc here instead of Kemba. A bigger, defensive guard with some playmaking skills (jot necessarily a star) would have been enough.

Wait there were others on the Vuc train with me last summer? I could’ve sworn I had that whole thing to myself:)

I also wanted Smart to start at point. You just described him.

I watched you driving that Vuc train and wasn't interested in hopping on. Still not.

But, I was all about the start Smart mobile. And the keep Baynes/pick/use cap space to gain assets train.

Obligatory, even though the offseason hasn't officially started yet...

Nah not Smart though! We needed a big playmaking guard, that can shoot the ocassional jumper, and not jack up constant 3’s early in the shot clock like what Marcus had been doing. He can be better though, but i queastion his bbIQ. He just does a lot of boneheaded plays.

reading an article, led me to thinking about this trade. It mentions a L Aldridge for Kemba trade, but I would like to get Dejontay Murray while we throw in a center.(Theis or Timelord)

SA gets a star PG to go with DDR, while Boston gets rid of a miniature PG for one who doesn't demand a lot of shots and can play good defense. Aldridge has an expiring, which I do not mind. Boston can still draft a Center and a Wing plus 2 BPA picks.

Boston would finally have a bigger better overall lineup of :

PG - Smart
SG - Brown
SF - Hayward
PF - Tatum
C - Aldridge

2nd unit

PG - Murray
SG - R Langford
SF - best available wing ( S Bey, Nesmith, Pat Williams)
PF - Grant Williams
C - (Theis-Timelord) + best available Center in draft ( Poku, J Smith, P Reed, I Stewart, Zeke Nnaji, D Oturo etc..)

pick 30 and 2nd rd BPA.

am I wrong about this??

That's what the spurs don't want imo, a pg that can't defend. Dejounte looks to be their future and if you we're the spurs, would you trade your core pg for Kemba and create more problems on the defensive end?

We do know one thing about the spurs though, they like Jaylen Brown. That should tell you what we have is better than what they have to offer.

We need for Timelord to develop.

SO my suggestions for a big man are as follows. Some need a trade, some need MLE:

Aron Baynes
Naz Reid
Valanciunas
Dieng
Bryant

Theis was 18th in Value added this past season, and Kanter was 16th in value added. Center is not a glaring weakness on this team, contrary to popular belief(Turner was 30 in value added FYI)

Baynes would bring toughness, shotblocking and better floor spacing as well as his maturity and fun attitude. Perfect add for a season, allows for Theis to come off bench at the PF spot with Kanter at Center.

Naz Reid, very nicely developing offensive game. Good rebounder, high energy, not a great rim protector, but is learning fast. COuld be better than Timelord.

JV, strong, sets great screens, can shoot the three. Good shotblocker, excellent rebounder, can defend his space but isnt the best at switching.

Dieng, kind of a cross between Baynes and JV with a more footspeed. Would be a great mentor for Timelord, is an expiring deal.

Bryant is young and has potential to be a top 10 center in the nba.

I like the Baynes part as he already knows Brad's system. But who do we realistically trade to try and get him for salary matching?

Baynes is a FA

no need to trade for him, just need to free enough capspace to use the non tax payer mle

Then I think he is the missing piece! A big that can bang with the embiid's/Adebayo's/Antetokounmpo's of the east who can shoot the occasional three. Great locker room guy. Consolidate our picks and hopefully ride with what we have HEALTHY.

Besides, who doesn't want to have "All of Australia" back in green?

The question is, would he want to be here? I mean we traded his ass after he opted in. I don’t think he would want to be back here after all that.

Why not? He'd be less likely to come back if he had been happy about leaving. If Boston offers the full MLE and no other contending team does, he's back here in a flash.

But Baynes isn't the only tall fish in the free agent sea. There's Olynyk (player option), Drummond (player option), Whiteside, Ibaka, Mahinmi, Cody Zeller, Tristan Thompson, Zizic, Mason Plumlee, John Henson, Christian Wood, JaVale McGee (player option), Meyers Leonard, Robin Lopez (player option), Dereck Favors, Okafor, Nerlins Noel, Frank Kaminsky (team option), Jacob Poeltl (restricted) Biyombo, Tyson Chandler, Montrezl Harrell, Dwight Howard and Dieng,

I left Gasol (Barcelona) and AD (player option) off the list.

I think Baynes would be Happy to come back. He seemed pretty easy come easy go. Question is cost. At vet min it's a no brainer. Will anyone offer more? Who? for MLE it really depends on who else we could get.

Something over the Taxpayer MLE, but under the Non-Taxpayer's.
